THROWBACK TIME! At long last, the arrangement album Lime of the Season has been released, meaning I can FINALLY post this remix!

This track was the last 'fakebit' track I did in Reason back in 2011(!), similiar to An Effrontery Escape and Oily Robot Lovin'. I had wanted to do a remix of the Witch's Hut theme for a while, and when Hylian Lemon approached me about doing a track for the project, well, we know how that ended up, right?

Here's a little thing I put together for Battle of the Bits' Super Western Cowboy competition, which had participants make a western-sounding track that had to use the standard 2A03 chip and export an .nsf that was less than 24kb. The top five tracks made it into the 'saloon' area of the game, where you can play them on the parlor piano!

So naturally, I got 6th place, right before the cutoff. This is an attempt at a ragtime-esque piano piece which I think came out pretty decently, given the restrictions in place. It's probably too laid-back to be considered ragtime, though...

I did this one for my senior recital in March of 2011; done in FamiTracker using VRC6!

So I was invited to participate in RadioSEGA's latest arrangement project, entitled Collision Theory, and this one involved taking two different SEGA tunes and mashing them together into one track! Kinda similiar to the Sonic Zone Remix Competition from years ago (is that still a thing?)

I chose Emerald Beach from Sonic Battle (composed by Tatsuyuki Maeda, Kenichi Tokoi & Hideaki Kobayashi) and Amusement Park from Super Monkey Ball 2 (composed by Hidenori Shoji & Haruyoshi Tomita) as my source tunes, and I think they went together pretty well.

The album is pay-what-you-want, but all proceeds go to SpecialEffect, a charity focused on helping people with disabilities to enjoy video games! Please consider throwing in a couple of bucks if you're able; definitely a good cause to do so.

So, after a year of sitting in OCR's queue box, this will finally see the light of day, at least by my hand! I wrote up some long-winded explanation as to how I got to this certain orchestration of instruments (orchestral mixed with chip sounds), and where the inspiration and ideas for the piece came from, but I won't bother with it, except for this little tidbit about the title:

On the American release of the Ocarina of Time OST, track 14 is entitled 'Ocarina of Time' (shocking I know), yet it's Zelda's Theme on the Japanese release of the OST. Why'd they do that? Who knows. So, what is Royal Treasure referring to? The family heirloom, or the princess herself? I didn't bother to decide, so I suppose you can.

Created in FL Studio 10 with Komplete 5 (VSL sample pack [strings and some percussion], Massive, and Akoustik Piano), EastWest/QuantumLeap Orchestra Gold Edition (winds, brass, harp, and percussion), and Tweakbench's triforce vst.

This track uses the standard Ricoh 2A03 chip (two pulse channels, a triangle channel, and a white noise channel), in addition to DCPM, which are very small samples.

Polar Plains

This track uses the Ricoh 2C33 expansion chip, otherwise known as the Famicom Disk System sound, which adds one extra sound channel with very basic wavetable support, to the standard 2A03. However, the triangle channel is not used.

Fundamental

This track uses the Namco N163 expansion chip, which allows up to eight additional channels of customizable waveforms, in addition to the standard 2A03 set.

This track also bypasses the channel hiss that is problematic with six or greater channels, as it was written before knowledge of the hiss was known, or at least implemented into FamiTracker.
