We are very pleased to welcome a new artist to the Dirt Crew Recordings roster!

London based “Clive From Accounts” caught our attention with his last release on Fouk’s “Outplay” imprint in 2020 and we are excited to present you with his new EP “Cooking the Books”.

The opener “Toucan” is a lush deep house joint, mixing frantic percussion with drunken synths, and as Clive describes it himself “A bit like taking Night Nurse and going on safari”. We love the spacey atmosphere of this track so much! For “Gravitate”, Clive made a dreamy yet danceable tune using dusty old records repurposed with a sprinkling of modular percussion and trouser-flapping subs. This one really caught our attention and has a very unique style, reminiscent of early “Groove Armada” and “Röyksopp”.

The shimmering “Altar” is organic and emotional, using purely analog synthesis and “Stewart-Lee-grade repetition”, which gives this EP a deep diversity in terms of styles and sounds. Exactly what we want Dirt Crew Recordings to be in this day and age.

We top things off with a deep and subby 2-Step / House remix by our own, Toronto’s best “Dan Only”. He transformed “Toucan” into a grimey dancefloor beast, leading up towards a great breakdown where the spacey strings and pads from the original shine in an old school 90s light. Sonic delights all the way! Enjoy!

I wrote this song as an inspiration to get creative in my music. I really liked Spada - Want You Back, as it has similarly styled lyrics. I used to live in Berlin and Stockholm and these areas really inspired my music, I really love the underground sound. My fans will be happy to hear this new sound as it is a new direction for me and one of my first tracks where I personally sing and created the vocals.  The track is great for driving, at house parties, in clubs, and at bars.

Franky Wah kicks off 2021 with new EP ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’, his maiden release on the legendary Anjunadeep, out 12th February. 

A four-track EP, ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’ opens with the lead title track, an emotion-drenched vocal cut pairing poignant breakdowns with the soaring vocals of AETHO. Next up, ‘The Last Stand’ sees the Yorkshireman shift to a progressive house vibe while maintaining the intensity of the opener, before ‘91’ again centers around an irresistible trance-inspired breakdown. Closing things out, is the fluttering ‘Boundaries’, a sophisticated, ethereal house jam that proves to be a fitting finale. 

Showcasing the artistry that led to the unison of artist and label, the skyrocketing DJ will be the next to take the reins on the iconic Anjunadeep Edition mix series, further cementing the new additions place in the roster. On joining the Anjunadeep family, the UK prospect mused: 

I've been into Anjuna since I can remember really. I've found the label has always struck a real sweet spot in my personal taste as their releases use a lot of old school elements with a modern twist which is essentially my sound. 

Franky enjoyed a career-affirming 2020 that included putting out a collaborative EP with dance music icon Sasha and dropping his debut mixtape The Revival Vol. 1, which included singles ‘You’re Not Alone’ and ‘Come Together’. The latter was nominated for Annie Mac’s 'Hottest Record Of The Year' and certified as her ‘Tune Of The Week’ and ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on BBC Radio 1, as well as garnering support from Pete Tong and MistaJam. With a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix now under his belt, he spent an impressive 10 weeks on the Radio 1 Playlist, 5 weeks of which on the A-List. The producer also made waves featuring in the globally renowned GQ Magazine in 2020, with an extensive feature focussing on the rising talent’s expansive repertoire. 

Going back to his roots, ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’ sees Franky Wah tap into his love of deep, melodic music and takes the genre into bold new territories.

El disco comienza con Amy, una pista que presenta una melodía House moderna y elegante con una línea de bajo pegadiza que hace de hilo conductor perfecto para el track. Another Session  mantiene el ritmo alto con sus acordes de ensueño, ritmos sólidos y la contribución sexy de una hermosa muestra vocal de Charlotte Gainsburg. 

Retro Romantic  sigue el rastro musical establecido por los dos primeros cortes, con una rica dosis de teclas suaves y una sección de ritmo siempre sólida, mientras que la pista de cierre y título Social Distancing trae armonías brillantes  y un diálogo perfecto entre la trompeta y el piano que hacen del EP un autentico esencial del House en este 2021.
