A two day obsessive project after waking up with this idea.
voice recorded notes and beatbox references.
Initially started as "The Boy is Mine remix" 'only afro beat'.
Using other modern R&B / Afrobeat music as reference for creative idea development, I ended up discovering "The Weekend - acapella" in the process.
Intention was to create an instrumental someone like Burna Boy or a Stormzy type flow could rap too.

Current state of remix idea. a few details need to be tweaked. there's a vocal shout that needs to be turned down a bit and I want more of a 'punch' in the vocals to help them stand out with the beat.

the struggle here is finding the best balance between different output translations. (e.g my phone speaker sounds well balanced but my headphones on external platforms sound too 'bassy'. yet somehow in my daw it sounds balanced)

best part of the song is the initial drop. and I think I'm starting to find a formula for that type of track and it feels good. next challenge is trying to keep the track interest happening throughout the track, either through added/new drops or more drastic arrangement switches or incorporating other vocals from other songs.

we will see.
