Love what you did here. I’m imagining a vast museum with marble floors.

A breadbox, maybe? The title tickled my interest and I enjoyed the entire scape. A small adventure, like an earthquake in shoebox, perhaps?

Very immersive. The clicks and sounds from the field recordings really add to the atmosphere

Some months ago I was heading to the doctor’s when I heard a voice say “notice the tattoo,” or “ look at the tattoo,” something along those lines, which left me pretty baffled, unsure what this meant or why it suddenly popped into my head. But I made sure I would pay attention to any tattoos I saw at the doctor’s office. When I got there a young nurse admitted me and checked my vitals. She was pretty and had a calming grace about her. When she went to take my blood pressure, I saw on the inside of her wrist was a single tattoo: a red rose. Throughout the day I contemplated what this symbol was meant to mean and why I was supposed to see it but couldn’t really make any connection to it. 
Around this time I had started learning more about the saints. I was reading a book of poetry by St. Thérèse of Lisieux “the Little Flower” that I really loved. In it are the most tender of love poems dedicated to Jesus, other saints and her fellow sisters at her convent. 
But it wasn’t until a couple of days ago I found the novena prayer to St. Thérèse and was shocked and tickled to discover it is apparently common knowledge that she’ll send a rose to those who ask for her prayers. 
Now I can’t remember if I had, at that time, asked, but maybe she went ahead and sent the rose knowing I would catch up down the line. Either way, this beautiful haiku by El Wud evoked in me this memory and the desire to repay her kind gift.

So dear St. Thérèse of Lisieux, this one’s dedicated to you:


Curve of time—
a thought takes flight,
scent of a rose.

This weeks prompt immediately gave me the idea of combining an inherently natural reverb sound with a guaranteed unnatural, reverb-free sound. 

The natural reverberated sound comes from two layers of a field recording of a church in Vienna, recorded in October, which provides ambient noises. The naturally guaranteed reverb-free sound consists of several layers of yesterday's WebSDR recordings, which provided rhythmic and melodic components.

The reverb-free sounds here start with a lot of synthetic reverb and end as they are in reality. The church was stripped of reverb from the beginning with two layers of RX10 de-reverb, which is gradually reduced until the natural reverb of the church dominates. Mono/stereo and panning followed these ideas. So at the end of the track there is a naturally reverberant church and the WebSDR noise, which comes naturally without reverb.

I particularly liked this contrast because reverb indicates spaces; a church is more than a space, as a sacred space it has its own spatiality, so to speak, in Karl Popper's World 3, which contains ideas as much as art. The WebSDR signals seem spaceless, and yet they fill the expanding sphere of their propagation – and the signals itself may transport meaning and ideas from a World-3-Level.

Yes, perhaps a little bit over the top, but that's what I liked.

This is five channels of earthquake synth by David Hilowitz (four pads and one drum) partly into Norns RPLS and several reverbs. Also a field recording. Halfway through the reverb is completely of. It still sounds roomy though, so I consider this a bit of a failure. Maybe it’s the earthquake synth that needs (and creates) space? I guess an earthquake does not fit into a shoebox...
