Crystal Castles  -  Courtship Dating (Xian Vox Edit)

While DJing for the Boulet Brothers, there were two tracks that I loved playing back to back.  Then one night I was inspired by some extra shots of tequila to more or less play them at the same time...not exactly the easiest thing to do when you're a real DJ and not a laptop jockey, much less a half bottle into Patron Silver, but I digress....  

Anyhow, I liked the sound so much that I was inspired to properly toss together my first mashup.  The two individual tracks:

I always wanted to add a beat to this song.  I know it's not the greatest thing in the world, but it's the first remix I ever did and I wanted to save it for posterity.  Ultimately it's a really simple remix.  Mostly adding a beat and adjusting timing.

I've always loved this track.  As a dancer. Not so much as a DJ. Its intro just wasn't terribly ideal for beat-matching. So I rewired it.  You'll hear this track @ MALEDICTION SOCIETY and occasionally at W▲RLOK.

I couldn't stop listening to this song when it came out.  I wanted to share it with my dancefloor.  Except...it was another track with not only a difficult intro to mix into, but a petulant tantrum of an outro that ruined both the vibe and the dancefloor density.  So I fixed both issues.

Björk - Crystalline (Xian Vox Edit)

My patrons know by now that I LOVE this song.  But...after a few months of spinning it, there came a point where I was constantly checking the countdown waiting for the song to end.  With a total run-time of 7 minutes, it was just too long.  What's worse is that there's a point where it felt like the song should end, but instead restarts itself for another 2 minutes.  That false hope only made it seem longer. 

So I fixed it by clipping that extra bit out.  *snip*

Since then many, many people have come up and thanked me for it.  Even complaining that other DJs play the longer version which makes them so tired of the song by the time its over.  So for anyone who wants to spin a more succinct version of this track, enjoy.  :)
