A series of songs that explore selected paintings of René Magritte. Each painting tells a wonderful story or poses an intriguing question. This song cycle fantasizes about not only the subjects of the paintings and what is already there, but also what is not seen at first glance. Most of Magritte’s paintings are deliciously absurd and surreal, however, in contrast with works like those of Dalí, whose images were rooted in absolute surrealism, Magritte’s approach was to take everyday objects and settings and inject them with just a touch of something unexpected.
