Delivering a silky hour of pleasure for this edition; “This mix is my love letter to the Bay Area. After 10 plus years in the Bay, it’s exposed me to so much that I wanted to share some of the G-funk and R&B specifically from here that has really resonated with me”.

Melissa Dueñas aka Sonrisita is a DJ based out of Los Angeles. Coming up as a record collector in her hometown of San Diego, Melissa pursued DJing as a means to create space for overlooked sounds. As a DJ she’s known for building eclectic sets that weave together dance music from the past and present. Melissa’s played in various cities across the U.S. and in Mexico City. She’s opened up for artists like Quantic, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Dam-Funk. Throughout the years she’s had radio residencies on WorldWideFM and Dublab where she took deep dives into various facets of music culture through her curation and guest interviews. No matter what she’s doing, Melissa’s intention is always to use music as a vehicle for dialogue, healing, and community.
