Closing out the EP, Sean Johnston aka Hardway Bros dives into 2011’s Digitize with a hedonistic acid-tinged rework. Rumbling low-end, snaking basslines and echoed percussion cut against twisted fragments of the original vocals, creating a wonky, euphoric refresher built for late-night systems. "

Premiere: Random Factor - Convergence (Craig Richards Remix) (20/20 Vision)

A couple of times a year I put on these sessions in my basement, where I set up 4 speakers in a circle, invite a few friends over, and we lie down and dissociate in the cosy darkness for an hour while listening to a surround sound mix I made for it.

I usually do a mix of mine and other people's ambient, drone and field recordings, plus some fucked up granular panning shit just to throw a spanner in the works (big up the refractalizerrrr, thanks Ben). Minutes long crossfades. Sometimes quiet, sometimes loud with harmonic mixing when I can. Uplifting but abstract. I try to leave some empty space and not let something too unsettling go on toooo long.

I'm sharing this one cos I think it's the best one I've done, and I hope you can get something out of it. There are two versions. One a binaural mix (this one) and a 4 channel surround one split into two stereo files (Front-Left Front-Right and Rear-Left Rear-Right) that you can find below.

If you want help with the 4 channel setup DM me. I would just drop the two files into ableton and put the first to out 1+2 and the second to 3+4. To get the right volume skip to the loudest part and set it based on that. You don't wanna have to do that half way through, trust me.

Kessie, a Leeds-based DJ known for her techno-infused soundscapes that are as textured and dynamic as they are heavy.  Ironically, Kessie’s hearing disability is the driving force behind her machinist approach to DJing. Her "wall of sound" aesthetic results in immersive sets that invite you to feel the music just as much as you hear it.

“I wanted to lean more into my instincts for this mix and channel some of the anxieties I’ve been dealing with in my everyday attempts to juggle this scramble we call life. It’s also been a while since I’ve focused on a podcast and I’ve grown more confident in my style: colourful and sinister with a seductive twang. I focused on contrast, depth, and flow. It’s tempting to approach a podcast like you’re at a club, but that’s already quite challenging when you’re in a studio alone, with no energy to feed off except your own. So I gave myself permission to wander a bit and see where the mix wanted to go, maintaining a playful attitude while letting some of the darker undertones bleed through. “

“This past year I have noticed my sound has shifted towards a more barebones, more direct version of techno. I think this shift has come simultaneously with my general outlook on music, I don’t really feel like this day and age calls for pretty melodies and polished sounds. I’ve started to crave the fringes where things start falling apart, or where the droning kick becomes relentless yet still hypnotic. My setup is limited in sound palette, but I try to make up for it in drive and motion. This set is definitely not polished and sometimes it derails into unbearable screeching, but that’s part of the deal I guess :) anyway, enjoy!” - Colin

Originally from Finland, Carmen Electro grew up on the dance floors of London and Berlin, both of which deeply shaped her sound as an artist and informed the raw energy and sense of connection she brings to every DJ set. While her record collection spans many genres, it is techno that speaks to her most in a club setting - a sound that lets her tap into something primal and invites the audience to do the same. Her sets pay tribute to multiple decades of techno and dance music as a whole, moving between hypnotic, tribal, and driving cuts designed to ignite that moment where body and soul move as one.

"Having recently played my first RSO closing for Ellen’s We Are Not Alone party, I’m happy to share some records via this mix that went down that night. I planned this 1hr to pay homage to the kind of techno that moves in between driving and sleazy, something that I find myself returning to again and again, in the search of timeless, pounding club music. I wanted to highlight some of the artists whose music I’ve been a huge fan of, both historically and more recently.
