We’ve observed the resurgence in broken beat and sometimes it feels like an over-used production hack. However, Parish gives the broken beat genuine purpose in this acidic, emotionally charged 7 minute sojourn. It reminds us a little bit of Tin Man, which can be no bad thing!

Rising Scottish DJ-producer Mark Mackenzie gears up for the launch of his brand new Kouncil Cuts imprint with a potent VA package titled 'Homegrown'. The label's debut release features Mackenzie and three of his fellow dance music collaborators that hail from The Highlands - Ross Calder, Connor Byrne and Mark Blyth.

Ahead of the five-track EP's digital drop on November 28, Mackenzie has handed over his A1 cut, 'Terrafirma' - a frothy electro excursion filled with massive breaks, effervescent strings and cutthroat acid lines that will leave you breathless on the dancefloor.

On the A-side Point Guard returns to the label with his razor-sharp electro outing ‘Odyssey’. An emotional expedition that harnesses dancefloor euphoria with a powerfully burning bassline. Joining forces to complete the A side is Melbourne producer Disrute and label head Andy Garvey. Here an ever-evolving synthline propels you forward throughout the track that builds infinitely but pauses just to release Garvey’s mesmerising vocal, ‘NRG’.  

Flip the axis and you will find swirling synths and scattered percussion that creates the murky club weapon that is emerging Sydney producer PMA’s ‘Hek’. Completing the release, Roy Mills brings you to a full rotation with ‘Aquatic Pressure’. His jittery breakbeat cut that slows to a half step mid way and returns with odd-ball synth mayhem.
