This is a very special EP. As many might know Toy Tonics started as a sublabel of now sleeping German indie dance label Gomma records. Gomma, along with DFA, Output Records and a few other was known for a very ecclectic, different approach in dance music. On this LOST GOMMA MIXES EP you'll find 4 now lost tracks that came out about 10 - 20 years ago on Gomma, but fit very well in today’s zeitgeist again. Pete Herbert, In Flagranti and Jaques Lu Cont are featured. Who knows about modern disco - knows these producers. And there is a very special name here too: Nicky Siano. The now legendary New York DJ used to be resident at Studio 54 and other legendary NYC venues of the 1970ies and 1980ies. One of his remix works was for the Gomma records band The KDMS.

Nicepeople have released some serious players in the past couple of years, from established legends like Orlando Voorn and Boo Williams through to newer talents like Khadeeja Grace and Soulvibe Inc. Now it's the turn of Giuseppe Scarano and Gourmet De Funk to lay down the deep house mission in a classic New York style - just listen to 'Gotta Move (GFD Party Stompin' Mix)' and you'll know what we mean. The sampling alone nods to Big Apple legend Pal Joey, while the sax-licked groove has a MAW vibe to die for. The quality keeps up across this record, leaving you with some forthright garage house pieced together with knowledge and flai.

02 The Child Kenny Dope

The badabing diskos crew digs deep once more and comes up with two downtempo indie-house monsters from label regulars Vinny Villbass and Sommerfeldt.

Producer, artist, sound guru and DJ Vinny Villbass hails from Oslo with releases on Eskimo and Trunkfunk. He has also worked with experimental electronic artist Pantha Du Prince and is a versatile performer and musician. Here he works with Sommerfeldt who has previously worked under various aliases on acclaimed labels such as Paper Recordings and Full Pupp. He is an equally prominent figure of the Oslo club circuit and both of these new tracks came together while eating basement fish (fermented trout that's been cooking in a bucket of brine in a basement for two months) in a wood cabin somewhere in the Norwegian mountains during the pandemic of 2021. Opener 'Back in Time' leans backward in both rhythm and harmony and creates plenty of space for its heavy claps and hypnotic vocal cuts. This alluring and artful groove is perfect for both sunlit beaches and dark clubs alike. As always with this label, it's a track that oozes musicianship and class. The equally fresh 'Basement Fish' goes even deeper but explores harder energies as disharmonic analog synth mayhem is held together by rhythmic vocals from the ever-amazing Toshybot who was once part of late 90s supergroup Tøyen. It's a rugged groove with tripped-out synth effects designed to bring all new vibes to the dance floor. Vinny Villbass & Sommerfeldt have hooked themselves a couple of beauties for this EP. Following on from his 2019 solo album Poison Fruit, Azymuth’s drummer Ivan ‘Mamão’ Conti returns with ‘Katmandu’. Though it was recorded and mixed in the same sessions, ‘Katmandu’ was mysteriously omitted by Mamão from the Poison Fruit album, either accidentally or on purpose, he’s not quite sure. What is for sure is that it’s one of the most potent poison grooves of them all.

This EP is the second in a series of limited edition dance 12”s celebrating 25 years of Far Out Recordings and is housed in a special sleeve which uses the label’s original semiquaver logo from 1994.
