Please, tell us a bit about Moscow Records...

Archie Hamiltion: We started Moscow Records in 2009. I think at that time we did it because we wanted to have a 

platform on which to present what we were doing musically. It is very difficult to make a mark in this industry as an 

individual. I think it’s important to have something that people can associate your music with. I did internships at CR2 

and then Defected when I moved to London after university, so I saw the workings of relatively big labels, but I had no 

real hands­on experience. The hardest part initially was to get distributors and shops to work with us, as we were 

completely unknown as artists. I think the hardest part now for me is finding the time to do the work. Along with my 

gigs, making music and trying to have some semblance of a normal social life, it’s not easy!

What are the label’s top releases so far?

I think for me, the best releases have been Kirik’s Stay Body EP, the Better Hide EP by Dan Farserelli and I, 

Moscillation EP by OdD, Lorenzo Chiabotti’s Adnur EP and I am very happy with my new one, Time EP.

Is there a concept behind the label? What are the musical boundaries if any ?

We set out to simply make and release timeless house and techno. Although I think we have a sound, I wouldn’t say 

we have any particular boundaries. I like to always have a strong dancefloor track on every release, as well as more 

ethereal or ‘intelligent’ tracks.

Label artists (who is on the label?)

The regular artists are Lorenzo Chiabotti, Dan Farserelli, Antony Difrancesco, OdD, Ferro

What makes the label different?

Everyone we work with... I like to get to know them first because I like to know what they are about as a person and 

where they are headed artistically. I take quality very seriously, so I am a real stickler for things like mixdowns, which 

can be very annoying for artists, but it’s always worth it in the long­run.

Influences, is there any other labels you are influenced by ?

When we started we were massively influenced by labels like Perlon, Oslo, Cadenza, Barraca, Circus Company, 

Cecille and Vakant...

Vinyl versus digital... what formats are you releasing on and what are your views on vinyl versus digital?

We release on both formats. Personally I think it’s important to have a physical representation of your work, although 

I do not believe in releasing in releasing exclusively on vinyl. There are plenty of people in the world who cannot 

afford, or are unable to purchase records and they have just as much right as anyone to own music. I don’t want to 

open up too much of a can of worms here, but I think people can take the vinyl thing way too seriously...

How long time do you leave between releases?

We don’t have a rigid structure; I don’t like to feel pressured into releasing regularly. When the music is there, and the 

time is right then we will release a record. However, the current lead time (up to 18 weeks!) from delivery to release 

doesn’t make things easy!

What are the visual guidelines in the label? do you work with a specific visual artist or use many different 

ones?

When we started, we wanted to think of a way to draw people’s attention to the records in store who have never 

heard of this label or the artists. It’s a tired old adage, but sex sells! We have a very talented illustrator called Mel 

Burns who draws all of the beautiful ladies that adorn our labels now.

Priku - WetYourSelf! Promo Mix

From an early age Olga Korol has had a distinct connection and curiosity with music, in particular with musical patterns and their intricate melodic properties. Growing up in the Ukraine in Odessa her attentions were diverted to a number of musical scenes as varied as grunge and trip hop, which eventually lead to electronic music, where she began to attend local parties and collect vinyls records with this new electronic sound she discovered. 

It wouldn't be long before she realized that she really desired to be on the other side of the DJ booth. Her DJ career began in earnest and over the following years she started playing at major venues across Ukraine, establishing her name and her sound of minimal techno. It was not long before the attentions of the now infamous Kazantip Festival found their way to Olga's music and invited her to come play for them on numerous occasions. 

A life change came in the form of a relocation to Moscow, which was building an electronic music scene with its own unique Eastern European music culture, in particular the sounds coming from ARMA17. It was here where Olga whilst playing as a DJ, experienced the complete immersion of performing at the next level, playing before a packed house and knowledgable crowd. Each event would become uniquely special and help shape her sounds and ambition to a new height.

During this time Olga decided to step into the studio and collaborate with fellow DJs, D. Korablev and Pan Sancho, where together they soon realized that they needed a system in order to house their new productions and organize events around their own sounds. Through this came the idea to create the Body Parts Record label, focused on releasing vinyl and digital music of their material and as well from friends and new artists both local and international.

With the creation of Body Parts, they now perform together under the ODY Arts moniker. Currently her focus is on her own solo productions, running Body Parts and monthly club project Meduza. As a DJ her music has taken her across the major cities of Russia, Ukraine and over to Spain for an Off Sonar party in Barcelona. As the rest of the world awakens to the new waves coming out of Eastern Europe, you can be assured that Olga Korol is leading up at the front.

Futere Sound of Bucharest 001 - Priku

This recording is an extract from the Twilight set of Dubtil at Club Guesthouse. The party is an invite only event series at the club. Dubtil closed the night which saw guests such as Cezar, Edward, Vlada, SIT, among others, this is the first 2hrs extract of a 6hrs set at my dear home club. 

Having been there for this night and this closing set, I chose to put it out on the Toi Toi Mix Series not only because Dubtil has become part of our agency roster, in fact, it is because of things like this he is but also because this represents the milestone of my exploration in Romania. 

Charged with a reputation I always disliked, of being ‘flat and boring’ some Romanian artists have been unfairly judged and Dubtil is the primary example of that, he showed me here that this country has a pool of talents which are yet to be uncovered and oh boy, how enlightening to see them surface. Following on from the legacy that made him grow as an artist he shows here true djing by what djing should stand for. An extremely well structure and diverse peak time set which broke me in a 1000 pieces in positive surprise when being on his dance floor, elegantly 'ballsy'.  

This comes to reassure that my belief in the talents in this country is real, that for these past 10 months I have been here I continue to be shocked when these boys become a surprise box of amazing music research, killer mixing and structure, leading of course, to the highest standard of Djing, anything but flat or boring but rather enlightening and energising, full of personality and character, just what I want to see on dance floors​ hence why I stand proudly by it. ​



Thank you Dubtil for showing me this and for reassuring my faith in this country which I chose as my home.
