Twisted & hard-hitting techno from Oxygeno & Francesco Argentieri via Collective Process Vol. 4

Soma Records begins 2022 with Volume 4 of the Collective Process series that links new and upcoming artists to the global scene. Doubling up on this release with two tracks each are Spanish-based Oxygeno & Italian producer Francesco Argentieri.

Oxygeno kicks things off with the dark and brooding Abuse And Violence with its dark and driving sound setting the tone for the EP perfectly. Following it up is Arrogance that delves into deeper territory with unsettling and foreboding synths creating a devastating rhythmic structure. Newcomer Francesco Argentieri opens his Soma account with the rapid-fire Mind Control. Broken Beats and alarm-like synths fire off to great effect. Argentieri closes out the EP with Enemy Is Yourself, a clanking yet hypnotic affair, crafted with precision to destroy dance floors.

Endplate is back after his excellent Gemini EP from 2020. The andalusian expert gives us four exercises of proper driving techno with an excellent sonic craft.

Unreal opens this slice of plastic with a repetitive and elastic line grooving across the precise beat. The main synth line changes in intensity along the development of the track playing wisely with the percussive elements to create the required feeling.

On PMMM the rhythm goes dirty and pulsating, gummy sequences come along a n intense drum pattern heavily reverberated and processed.

The flip side opens with,  No Success Street, starting with a voice-like sound, obsessive and intense with an opaque bass drum as foundation. Sibilant drones add tension to the formula, increasing the adrenaline levels as the track goes into total madness.

Malenia closes the physical edition with echoed drums and loads of reverb. The drums go solo for the first bars, being filtered and processed constantly. A superb tool to add tension to a busy set.

As the first bonus digital track, Animal Noise, dirty and screamy, a dystopic hymn for the proper morning routine at Berghain for example.

To end the digital version, Green Eye, direct and punchy, with the right dose of drum pressure on a 90% rhythmic track, again a tool for those to know how to use them.

Techno with no jokes inside, from the makers to the real players.

Nuno and zxzx, long time friends and producers, delved into the depths of techno, bringing forth a unique blend of cohesive beats and subtly interwoven melodic elements. 

With each beat meticulously crafted to create a sense of suspense and anticipation, “N15” is a hypnotic journey through dark and pulsating soundscapes.

Visitors - Projections is the new collaborative project between Edit Select and Antonio Ruscito.

Over the years, Tony Scott aka Edit Select has carved out his own sound via atmospheric, hypnotising techno. His label Edit Select Records has invited some serious heavy weights to its ranks with names such as Mike Parker, Teste and Mark Broom all making appearances. Visitors - Projections sees the Scotsman join forces with Italy’s Antonio Ruscito who has featured on labels such as Sonntag Morgen and Concrete Records. This 10 track LP concentrates on room filling ambience set upon functional 4/4 rhythms.

Visitors - Projections is set for release November 25th 2016.

Interstate Records is a newborn independent record label based between London and Berlin. It ́s run by the up-and-coming duo Dial Tone and aims to provide a vibrant and diverse platform for emerging and established artists within the Techno scene, whilst occasionally touching upon Ambient and other experimental music spheres. All records will be released on vinyl and digital.

As an introduction, the label has put together a release, comprised of some of the scene’s most promising artists. Stretching from heart-melting deepness to pure club- functionality, this V/A aims to highlight the different directions ahead, as the label continues to evolve.

Hedrome is a German brother-duo who made some serious waves since launching their own imprint Blanksheet. 'Hard Education' forms their first appear-ance on an external label and clearly continues their mission.

Ukranian producer/DJ Svarog lands on @affin with his "Substances" EP, the fifth on the label ran by Joachim Spieth.

His sound is personal and unique, always focusing in dark but evocative textures, combining saturated timbres, industrial sound and atmospheric landscapes, even broken rhythms. Shades of ambient, mysticism, and real techno are the elements that characterize all his output. Modern and futuristic sounds, far from trendiness and simplicity, from the soul to all intelligent dancefloors out there.
