French producer HAELIUM returns with ‘Lost Someone’, the first single from his upcoming EP titled ‘Expanding’. Influenced by the sounds coming out of labels such as Warp, Brainfeeder and Erased Tapes, HAELIUM’s music is a place where opposites meet, offering a refreshing blend of deep melancholy and childlike optimism. ‘Lost Someone’ blends an ethereal atmosphere, punchy beat, and dreamy piano arpeggios. Smooth and melancholic vocals appear, and the track slowly evolves to an epic finale with a powerful heavy bass. The single is accompanied by a special edit of the track by indie electronic favorite Yppah, offering a slightly different take on the original composition.

Dive into a warm bath of dreamy ambient and hypnotizing club-ready synth patterns with Modo Mero’s debut EP ‘Bits and Pieces’. With his cloudy harmonies, long melodic lines, and rich grainy textures the Dutch-born producer and live performer creates an electronic nebula of musical bliss and compelling compositions.

Throughout the past year, Bits and Pieces was created in Modo Mero’s hometown in the countryside where he spent a lot of time experimenting with recorded sounds and created soundscapes inspired by the peace and quietness of his surroundings. The record therefore came to life in a playful way by gathering little ‘bits and pieces’ of these sessions and gluing them together as a whole. It displays glimpses of synthetic landscapes, leaving us in a dreamy world of atmospheres, all with a sense of kindness and warmth.

Celebrating the extensive history of electronic music while still exploring the limitless means of modern music production, Modo Mero is mastering the illustrious art of merging, fusing, and blending styles and sound. Whether you are floating in a nightclub or staring out the window on a late bus ride home, there is always a time and place to listen, drift away and letting your mind conjure up a story of your own.

French producer HAELIUM releases his 2nd single from the upcoming EP ‘Expanding’. ‘Somehow’ features more of his signature fusion of indie electronic & downtempo IDM. Influenced by the sounds coming out of labels such as Warp, Brainfeeder and Erased Tapes, HAELIUM’s music is a place where opposites meet, offering a refreshing blend of deep melancholy and childlike optimism. The single is also accompanied by an alternate edit from Loci Records organic house producer Murge. The original and the edit offer two flavors of the same composition, one embodying a contemporary indie electronic aesthetic, and one that is more dance floor and electronic focused.

‘Somehow’ follows the first single from ‘Expanding’, titled ‘Lost Someone’, which is out now. ‘Lost Someone’ also included a guest edit from indie electronic producer and prior Ninja Tune recording artist Yppah. The single has received editorial support from Spotify the same day as the release and continues to be a strong buzz on DSPs.

Its idea has started with the vocal samples that I got from a random video on Youtube. Then I put Juno chords and Moog bass, the usual ingredients to my music.

Dragon’s Eye Recordings is pleased to announce 'Suisei,' the latest reissue from Tokyo-based abstractionist Yui Onodera. 'Suisei' was originally released in 2007 on and/OAR (USA) to critical reception, drawing comparisons to Thomas Koner, Eliane Radigue, Phil Niblock, and Keith Berry for its sustained harmonics and darkly-tinged, staticky drones. The album is composed from field recordings made with consumer-grade dictation mics, contact microphones, and pump organ, which Onodera employs in both subtle and overt ways. 

The word suisei—translated simultaneously from the Japanese as ‘aquatic,’ a comet, or the word for the planet Mercury—aptly represents a record that shifts ambiguously through textural deconstruction of some watery, isolated landscape. Cinematic in its slippery and grinding aural imagery, the record charters a natural path through the transformation of organic elements, chattering, pinging, scraping, and washing through oscillations while avoiding the realm of the grotesque.  While characteristic of Onodera's microscopic, hallucinatory style, 'Suisei' stands apart from other releases in its massive coverage of aural territory.

The Queen of Ghettotech, Lil Mz 313 gets her own EP on Databass this
summer. ‘Black Rose’ features two new cuts, a versatile instrumental and a remix of ‘Super Swag’, the original of which came out on Dirty Knock in 2014 and was featured on the Power TV series on Starz.

Hailing from the Eastside of Detroit, Lil Mz. 313 fell in love with the sounds of Miami Bass and Ghettotech. After meeting DJ Godfather, she laced her first track with another fellow Detroiter, DJ Omega (Will Simpson). She then recorded her first two EPs in 2008, ‘Hit It Hard!’, which featured the late great DJ Rashad, and ‘Revenge Of The Bytchez’. She writes her own music, getting to grips with the production side on top of her already impressive vocal skill.

Her distinctive vocals stood out recently across a bunch of tracks on DJ
Godfather’s ‘Electro Beats For Freaks’ album (who also assists with
production here), but now it’s time to shine the spotlight on this Motor City monarch. Expect punchy Electro beats and Ghettotech basslines, alongside her unsurpassed lyrical dexterity.

PREMIERE: DMarc Cantu & Danny Passarella - Recognizably Invisible [Passarella]

Annika Wolfe’s early musical influences span a range of genres from Punk and New Wave to Hip Hop and Funk. Such eclectic taste brings a unique sound to Wolfe’s deep, rhythmic and raw Techno, which was first brought to DJ 3000’s attention via an EP for Truncate’s WRKTRX label. After reaching out, Annika now debuts on his prestigious Detroit techno label Motech Records.

“The EP was inspired by my thirst for the late-night warehouse parties we are accustomed to in Los Angeles”, says Annika, “this is my take on raw, jacking styled techno”.

Track one, ‘Drama’ instantly captures attention with its funky Ghettotech vibe, jacking drum programming and claps that elevate every transition. The second track ‘Flavor’ steps the groove level up a gear. As Annika adds, “I tried to hone in the energy of a night out by serving three tracks with different moods”. The final track ‘Chiques Funk’ sets the tone for peak-time on the dance floor. Distorted robotic bleeps filter through percussive toms and claps resulting in a sound reminiscent of Detroit techno’s stripped- back soundscapes. Bringing maximum energy, Annika concludes, “The EP is driven with classic 808, and 909 percussion rhythms, followed with cold, funky and quirky synths that modulate throughout”.

Kerrie makes her CE debut with the first of two EPs for their vinyl-only sister label, Cultivated Electronics Ltd.

Originating from Ireland, Kerrie made a move to the UK in 2010 settling in Manchester. She soon joined Eastern Bloc Records, spending her time behind the counter selling records before moving into the role of events coordinator in 2017. Honing her DJ skills through a residency at Eastern Bloc, Kerrie has gone on to be a regularly booked act for some of the UK & Ireland’s most prestigious underground club nights and recently made her Berlin and NYC debuts.

After a few of years of producing in the box Kerrie made a move to a hardware-only set-up in 2014 and since then has also taken her analogue live shows on the road to various events and festivals including Freerotation and The Warehouse Project. In 2017 she released her first track for I Love Acid’s 10th anniversary compilation, with a follow-up EP for them in 2020. She has also released an EP on Semtek’s inimitable Don’t Be Afraid and has recently started her own label, DMF with a string of releases lined up for this year.

‘We Continue Part 1’ is defined by Kerrie’s organic production style across its four tracks, bridging the gap between raw, driving tech and twisted electro with acid flourishes, tough beats and dark bass notes.
