Sun Creatures releases their second single ‘Solar’ on Music For Dreams.

The inventive, percussion-based ensemble started when the two musicians Arto Eriksen and Fridolin Nordsø came together through their shared love of 70s funk, West African rhythms, and Brazil’s drum ensembles.

‘Solar’ slaps you right in the face with its funkalisious groove defined by the upfront drums and the bassline moving from its heels to toes throughout the track accompanied by wah-guitar, brass. Just when you thought it wasn’t funky enough, the duo also applied an organ solo.

Imagine yourself arriving to at the bar, still with your head- phones on. While Travolta-style head-nodding you smoothly arrive at the bar table. With one hand on the bar table and the other in your pocket, you confidently start scanning the room while feeling untouchable. Only until the DJ of the night grabs your shoulder and asks: “What soundtrack are you listening to?” To which you reply: Sun Creatures – ‘Solar’... This is how the tune might make you feel. So... Go on! Give it a spin!

Elemental Vol. 3 continues the journey begun in Vol. 1, returning to the meeting point of nature and circuitry where country becomes techno and techno becomes country. The project carries forward the Elemental idea — that music, like weather or landscape, isn’t a metaphor but a living force that moves through us.

The sound remains tactile and porous: guitars still breathe, synths still shimmer, but the pulse runs deeper now, steadier, like groundwater finding its course beneath open fields. The arrangements move between organic drift and machine precision — footstep and kick drum, heartbeat and bassline — tracing a quiet dialogue between wilderness and pattern. It’s not fusion so much as coexistence: a music that sounds both handmade and algorithmic, campfire and circuitry, soil and signal.

If Singu found calm amongst the chaos of Tokyo for ’Siku’ (GBR017), then Maât map out a Sunday stroll through the sun dappled streets of the Parisian banlieue on ’Solar Mantra’. Humming reeds converge into a pre-dawn chorus before dewy sequences and drifting syncopation signal sunrise over La Vilette, a perfect place to start ‘The Walk’. Skirting the Périphérique, the Parisian ensemble pick out a street percussionist by Boulevard d’Algérie then detour to Pré-Satint-Gervais to draw a bassline out of the Metro Area, adding an Environ cool to the uptempo ‘Jaki & Bryn’. With icy bells, brooding guitars and melancholic vocals, ‘Feuglace’ transports Miko’s garten to the 20th arrondissement while the polyrhythmic patter and micro-tuned guitars of ‘Solar Mantra’ see out the A-side with a fourth world hymn.
