Delicate yet powerful - really like the vibe!

25th October 2023 - Tom rode into town specially to throw down with us in the Zoggs studio. One of the masterminds behind the fantastic Three Wheel Drive festival, as well as a killer DJ and very sweet man.

It became a bit of a running joke that I would declare almost every show we did "one of the best we've done", but I'm very excited to say it again for this one. We certainly at least racked up one of the highest genre counts.

Vibes including, but not limited to: cosmic disco, saxophone jazz, glockenspiel folk, euphoric new jack swing, noodly guitars, dubby chuggers, crunchy post-punk, classic Pinch, breaksy techno, moody new wave, experimental violin drama, Moroccan downtempo, Senegalese polyrhythmic drumming, grime instrumental, deconstructed coldwave Usher cover and Ugandan death metal.

SSPB invites italian dj and producer Seta Loto to their monthly Rinse Residency.

Seta Loto is an Italian electronic producer and dj based in Berlin.
In November 2023 he releases ‘Earth Related System’ his debut ep for the now widely established lyonnaise Comic Sans Records.
With a sophisticated fusion of minimal bass, atmospheric and UK-style techno, dub and dancehall, each of the five tracks develops its own ecosystem, distorted by alterations of reality as if on psychedelics.
Delving into the concept of a sound infrastructure, the artist lays its foundation in the earth as the primary element where an intangible low-end drifts over the surface of the sound, unceasingly creating an intense, enveloping atmosphere reminiscent of tectonic shifts. Above, organic textures manipulated by cutting-edge sound design techniques and clever re-sampling work neatly share the remaining sonic environment.
Seta Loto's creations resonate with a spiritual essence, evoking an intimate relationship with the wonders of nature and rootedness to the earth.

Mix 13 comes to us from the infinitely talented Brooklyn NY artist @cadesss a master of live sets, hardware manipulation, dj curation and overall electronic music history buff, we are very excited to have him on the series. This mix is a vinyl-only mix of dub and 90s techno, now playing on the soundcloud page. We sat down with him a few questions to introduce himself-

Whats your name and where are you from?
Ian Cades and I’m originally from Georgia, moved to the city in 2018.

Can you tell us about the mix?
I’m not a very good mix planner, my collection is split up wildly across multiple hard drives, USBs, lot of vinyl, 2 different laptops, etc. so when i work on a mix I tend to just gravitate towards whatever’s been my recent additions. This whole mix is 140 bpm but hops all over the place.

What you are currently working on that you are most excited about?
I have a big live set I’m prepping for in the summer that is taking up most of my free time. I also just wrapped up an EP for release this week that is entirely club focused and I think is my most concise work yet.

Any hobbies outside of music?
Feeding birds in my neighborhood 


Where can we see you perform next? Any upcoming gigs?
I’ll be opening for Versa end of May for SBE! I’ll be doing a dub live set with a touch of IDM and glitch.
