Red Eyes Black Dragon

A raw, nocturnal and toxic descent into the aftermath of love lost, “Anything But Gold Flora” by .XOM is a portrait of longing and self-destruction.

The second single off their upcoming concept album, the song describes the unhealthy coping mechanisms the main character Jules engages in to try and forget the pains of their breakup.

“Anything but Gold Flora” is a hard hitting pop punk song with guest vocals by Arizona based artist Beachsmoke. Chugging guitars and painful screams echo the track. With each drag of a cigarette and every step through empty streets, Jules belts out their pain both acknowledging their recent loss and their own negative traits “I just wanted to be… your best mistake”.

This track captures the delicate balance between vulnerability and defiance, where every note feels like a heartbeat echoing in the silence of the lonely night. For those who find solace in the shadows, this song is a companion for the broken and the brave allowing us to consider whether our own coping mechanisms are the right path forward.
