Alan Fitzpatrick and Rebuke team up for ‘Nice & Cool Trigga’, backed with a remix from Big Miz. 

Previously collaborating on 2020’s ‘Ultimate Distortion’, We Are The Brave label-boss Alan Fitzpatrick and Drumcode, Hot Creations, and Dirtybird star Rebūke join forces once again, this time for Patrick Topping’s Trick imprint. Recruiting Big Miz (Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Shall Not Fade) on remix duties, the result is a pair of no-holds-barred floor fillers destined for dancefloor mania. 

The original mix of ‘Nice & Cool Trigga’ sees pounding kicks and breakbeats wrestle with euphoric rave pads, forming an anthemic and heaving track. Big Miz’s remix sees the Glaswegian DJ/producer inject his signature club-friendly energy, twisting elements of the original into a rowdy, hands-in-the-air affair.

“Wild West Frequency” was born from a feeling that’s always chased me — a mix of solitude, dust, tension, and raw energy. I wanted to turn the Wild West into something electronic, dark, and alive, as if every frequency carried a hint of danger.

In this track, I built a distorted universe. I blended percussive banjo, fast mandolin tremolos, muted guitar chops, and heavy, twisted pedal-steel textures with a punchy kick and a torn, gritty bassline. The harmonica became my main voice — short, explosive, almost like a call to confrontation.

Every build-up feels like held breath. Every drop releases dust and adrenaline.
I created this track as if I were crossing a night desert, surrounded by metallic echoes and broken rhythms, searching for something between past and future.

“Wild West Frequency” is my electronic frontier — dirty, tense, and designed to shake any dancefloor.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint continues to blossom into one of the most prominent labels in the industry today, as the latest release sees the founder link up with Grammy Award Winning duo CamelPhat on a pair of massive techno tracks via the 'Kona' EP. Here Mixmag reveals the premiere of the EP's title track, a euphoric and anthemic peak-time techno cut packed with relentless energy. 

Alan Fitzpatrick had this to say on the new collaboration: “It’s always exciting for me to work with new artists and people that I think can bring a different take on things in the studio. As individual artists our styles are fairly different, and that always sparks some magic in the studio. This time round it was techno magic, in the form of 'Kona' and 'Liberation'"

The 'Kona' EP is set for release April 19.

With Topping describing the EP’s title track as the “heaviest” thing he’s ever produced, ‘Dungeon Freak’ is an unrelenting slab of rave techno, with Daddy Dino’s deadpan, spoken-word vocals only adding to it’s dark aura. Similarly cold and heavy, ‘Snide’ is a chunky, metallic number that continues to build in intensity across its seven minutes.     

“This EP is more like the vibe of ‘Watch What Your Doing’ EP. The title track is so dark, with mad ravey synths but the bit I’m most excited about is the vocal! 
“The phrase ‘the techno dungeon’ is really just a daft thing me and mates used to say years ago about when you are locked on the dancefloor and can’t leave because your so into the music. So it’s more a metaphorical place in your mind, than it is an actual dungeon or venue!”

TRICK was initially launched as a platform to exhibit Topping’s versatility as a producer, as well as a platform to showcase the wealth of emerging talent which he has been pushing in his DJ sets. Prior to ‘Dungeon Freak’ he has released two EPs on the label, ‘Watch What Ya Doing’ and ‘Turbo Time’. The latter of which was selected as the ‘Hottest Record’ on BBC Radio 1, gaining support from the likes of Gerd Janson, Denis Sulta, Fisher, Diplo, Eats Everything and Jamie Jones.
