Tanzkombinat Talent Mix #026 by Denny S

Denny S steht seit 25 Jahren hinterm Mischpult und hat schon so manche House-, Techno- und Trancephase miterlebt. Doch eins ist ihm stets auf seinem langen Weg als Raver und vor allem als DJ treu geblieben, die Melodie, denn ohne geht eigentlich nichts in seinen Sets. Eintönigkeit und Belanglosigkeit in Tracks mag er so gar nicht. Es muss was passieren, was ihn kitzelt.
Nachdem sich die Tanz- & Firlefanz-Crew 2019 zurückzog, schloss Denny sich der Zwischenmiete-Crew an, die bis zur Corona-clubfreien-Zeit regelmäßig das Artheater mit Melodic Techno und ihrer wunderschönen Deko und Herzlichkeit verzauberte. Wo wir beim Thema wären: Melodic Techno – dafür schlägt Dennys Herz, denn genau da sind die Elemente der elektronischen Musik drin, die für ihn den Kitzel ergeben und die für ihn die Musik ein ums andere Mal zu einem echten Lebenselixier werden lassen. He has also performed in numerous local and renowned venues such as Société des Arts Technologiques (S.A.T.), Club Soda, Salon Daomé, Newspeak, Théâtre Corona, Igloofest, Piknic Electronik Montreal, and Mutek Montreal.


Considered as one of Canada’s most accomplished electronic producers, Van Did’s appreciation for sound design, electro‐acoustics, & new techniques for signal processing is evident as he weaves texture & dimension into every aspect of his creations. With consistent releases on prestigious labels around the world, including Manual Music, Herzblut, & Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat, he decided to start his own label in 2011 called Grrreat Recordings. Besides founding 8day Collective and his own label, he mixes melodic bits and pieces into a soothing Van Did signature – a loopy landscape of groovy beats, little details and driving energy.

Nummer 58 kommt vom Berliner Liveact Gheist, die den Sound und Vibe einer elektronischen Band mit der Energie eines DJ-Sets kombinieren. Kennengelernt hat sich das Kollektiv an der Popakedemie in Mannheim, ehe man gemeinsam 2010 nach Berlin zog. Inzwischen haben sie in den berühmten Riverside Studios ein neues Zuhause gefunden und sind zu regelmäßigen Aufritten in Clubs wie dem Watergate zu Gast, bei denen sie Live Elemente und Gesang mit einem DJ-Set vereinen.

3 QUESTIONS to EDONE:

Q: Let's get into your mix. Why did you choose these tracks and what do they still mean to you?

A: I began to listen to Electronic Music when I was 12 years old or so, mid 1990's more or less. Probably my first contact was with a cassette that a friend recorded with the Experience album by The Prodigy, since then I was always linked to Electronic Music, from IDM to Breaks, Techno, House or others. In my mix you can find tracks that at some point of my life were special for me for any or other reason.

Q: Since clubs and festivals got closed we're all forced to stay home. What did you do since the lockdown came?

A: I spent a great time in the studio, I think I improved my mixdown and mastering skills, indeed I'm doing for others, and I had time to begin my new record label project.

Q: On which projects are you currently working and what can we expect from you this year?

A: As I mentioned in the last question, probably my most ambitious project at the moment is my new label called Surrrealism. This project itself is based and inspired on the art of surrealism. It's main goal is that of tracing a line which joins the visual and sound world, showing an special dedication to the aspects which exactly fit on the image of the brand. Thus, apart from the musical side where many renowned and acclaimed musicians are going to participate, a magnificent designers and artists team will be involved in the different fields of the art. Each of the covers in every launch date will be a  hand made oil on canvas made by one of their artists, always inspired by the branch of surrealism. Surrealism will mix the sound with visual art and they will go from the best musicians performances to proper expositions of art and paints of their authors. Everything here under the same proposal: The ART OF SURREALISM.
