Born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Holtsberry began DJing at 19. For the next three years he honed his craft at the behind the decks, later discovering a need to produce.

Since its release in 2015, 'What You Need’ has been a fan favorite for the Drumcode family. Now Kölsch transform's the original into a euphoric anthem, as he highlights melancholic chords that build in intensity before dramatic string sequences set in. The fusion of motifs from both Kölsch and Adam Beyer proves to be a solid match, revealing a ballad that fits nicely during the deepest portions of the night.

Lost Paradise is a spaced out techno cut with astral synths dancing on rubbery drums. It is melodic, prog, and epic in all the right ways. Dickicht then closes out the EP in dark fashion with rumbling bass and icy hi hats, spine word mutterings and a sense of drama that leaves a lasting impact.

Drumcode set the standard with its first release of 2019, recruiting Amelie Lens to deliver an electrifying re-rub of Adam Beyer’s ‘Teach Me’, a fitting highlight to mark the label’s 200th release back in January. As we hit the business end of the year, another Beyer vintage gets the remix treatment as Kölsch adds to his outstanding discography with a maiden DC contribution.

First released back in 2015, ‘What You Need’ was the perfect marriage of deep groove-licked techno and slinky smooth synth lines. Retaining the exotic riff of the original, Kölsch builds tension and euphoria in equal doses as melancholic chords build up in intensity before dramatic string sequences enter the game. It’s the kind of end-of-night soundtrack that’ll make even the most hardened raver go a little misty eyed and a classic addition to the Drumcode catalogue.

"The latest release on Tash’s Movement Recordings welcomes Simos Tagias back to the label for a brand new EP entitled ‘Illumination’. The Greek artist has become a mainstay of label roster with this being his tenth appearance. As one of the most recognized names in progressive house, the Athens resident has showcased his music on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Cid Inc’s Replug Records, Beatfreak Recordings and Sound Avenue. Now fresh off a remix for Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music, Simos makes a welcome return to Movement Recordings with a new EP alongside a remix from James Trystan.

Beginning with the title and showcase piece ‘Illumination’’ Simos crafts a proper slice of astral techno. Tough beats, electric rhythms and raspy stabs begin the nine minute journey. Senses heighten as elastic designs and cosmic effects unite across a devilish first act. Percussive flurries and metallic melodies further advance the narrative, flowing effortlessly into a dramatic break. Sinister in tone, the interlude saturates your senses with a cascading lead theme, opening up with each successive loop, before reaching an exhilarating crescendo. The companion piece ‘Kabul’ follows a similar sonic ethos, making it a perfect complement to its predecessor. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a tightly wound groove and distinctive percussive narrative. Ominous and intriguing, it’s arcane nature is inviting as growling swells, astral arps and subtle vocal fragments make for an incredibly heady journey. The storyboard becomes fully realized in the main break, melting down to a cosmic collage, before waves of beats and percussion spark a powerful third act.

The lone interpretation of ‘Illumination’ is provided by James Trystan who makes his label debut. The UK artist continues to be one of the melodic techno scenes most steadfast producers, having racked up an impressive string of discography credits, most notably for Bedrock, Eleatics, Steyoyoke and Suara. Now making his first appearance on Movement Recordings, James provides a powerful rendition of ‘Illumination’. Always a creative remixer, James reinvents the main elements into something decidedly more poignant, sitting as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a muscular groove, comes buzzing synths and hypnotic arps. It’s unique contrast of grit and shimmer results in a remarkable sonic marriage, one which makes for a hugely energetic yet quite tasteful journey, elegantly peaking through a dramatic break, before a buzzing final act puts a cap on this cosmic gem. Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint continues a fruitful year welcoming Joe Miller to the label for his debut EP. A firmly recognized name in the electronic underground, the Melbourne resident lays claim to releases on All Day I Dream, Dream Culture, Magician On Duty and Sag & Tre. Now making his much anticipated Sound Avenue debut, Joe presents his ‘The Last of the Great Days’ EP alongside remixes from Jamie Stevens and Jean Caillou.

Sitting in the creative space between electronica and deep house, organic is often a term aptly associated with Joe’s music. The title selection sits firmly in the latter category with its deep dulcet tones, warm bass swells and timely piano motifs. Building in waves, it's a series of haunting overlays which sits as the primary theme, perfectly blanketing tranquil arps and luminous percussion, across a concise and heartfelt six minute journey. The companion piece 'Nightjar' finds Joe exploring the electronica side of his studio repertoire. A style he's been flexing more of late, incredibly fresh and highly creative, it’s a collage of uniquely processed and wonderfully creamy tones that captivates here. All eet over a bed of broken beats and wistful atmospherics, which ultimately underpin the narrative.

'A rare moment of beauty saw Rudy UK release "All Things Fade" to critical acclaim in March 2019. With one set of remixes already riding high, a second now sees Australian and UK talents continue the story.

With exquisite attention to detail, a unique approach to his craft and creativity in abundance, Jamie Stevens has been a central figure in the underground dance scene for over two decades. Able to call upon a wealth of experience from his ground-breaking Infusion moniker and solo career, the two-time ARIA award winner has carved out a crevasse-sized niche for himself with his live performances and incomparable production work. Performances at the renowned Fabric in London and Womb in Tokyo have been added to a long list of gigs in New York, Moscow, Singapore and across his native Australia. Production work has seen Stevens light up the catalogues of John Digweed's Bedrock, Guy J's Lost & Found and Cid Inc.'s Replug, to name but a few. Now making his Proton Music debut, the aptly titled, "Jamie Stevens Golden Return Remix" takes "All Things Fade" in a scintillating club-oriented direction, heralded in the opening stages with its intricately patterned percussive groove and syncopated synth stabs. Progressing effortlessly, a warm glissando bassline slides across the lower frequencies while the sumptuous piano refrains from Rudy's original appear seamlessly at the breakdown and into the second half. The result is a wonderful new interpretation that perfectly illustrates Stevens' exalted status as an iconic name within the underground dance fraternity.

Austrian based, Dan Orsen, is an artist of considerable repute. As renowned producer and A&R head of Cid Inc.'s Replug imprint, the UK born producer has found himself at the vanguard of modern underground house and techno. A growing but highly prestigious release portfolio has seen Orsen release a variety of original and remix production material on the likes of Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat and a wealth of material on Replug. A regular on Particles and Proton Music, June 2015 saw the three-track "Elysium" EP make its mark on the former, while a quartet of remixes for the likes of Roger Martinez, GMJ and Matter have made a distinct impression on the latter. Adding to his portfolio, a fifth now sees Orsen rework "Real You" to mesmerising effect. Using the components from Rudy's original to superb effect, Orsen has created a striking club-friendly remix that utilises a dynamic rhythmic groove and heavy beat. A filtered arpeggio adds to the dance vibe before gated pads provide a moment of textured intrigue at the mid-point. Building once more through the arpeggiated phrase, the track blossoms post-breakdown into a richly layered affair that showcases a wealth of additional production work from the Orsen studio.

Berlin-based talent Dean Grenier steps up to supply Tiga's Turbo Recordings with its next release in the 'Color Code' EP, which features the haunting and hypnotic techno roller 'Hurrikan'.

The the 'Color Code' EP follows Dean Grenier's releases on Twin Turbo, OMNIDISC, Tectonic and Sister City Limited. Described as "sexually-viable sci-fi techno," Dean Grenier's new material transports listeners into the future with an immersive motif and relentless rhythm. He's clearly in top form and right at home on Turbo. 

The 'Color Code' EP is set for release November 22.

Each edition of the Four To The Floor series, now in its 16th installment, always presents four tracks that are some of the strongest secret weapons from the sets of Solomun.
Opening up the record is Maceo Plexs Mutant Magic, which gets the engine going with deeply pounding percussions and otherworldly synth dabs and vocals.
Up next the sinister sounding Plastic Head TV by Fairmont, a driving and dystopian melodic techno track.
Track number three is Louisville Lip (Abaze Edit) by Nico Garreaud, a Tech-House anthem with rapid drum patterns and energizing arpeggiators.
And lastly is dreamy Melodic House tune called Princept by The Vinyl Depreciation Society, a very versatile piece that experiments with an insane amount of sounds over its main structure and with that, rounds off this 16th edition of Four To The Floor.

Maceo Plex - Mutant Magic (Original Mix)

With "Mephisto“ and "42° Celsius“ the Berlin-based producer Matthias Schuell debuts on Blindfold Recordings. Due to his education in classical music, it comes to mind that classical instruments find their way on to Matthias Schuell's productions.

„42° Celsius“ comes in a very minimalistic fashion. A reiterating rhythm rarely unsettled with a big bawl of a bass line is complemented with high triolic pizzicato stabs that are dripping down on the pumping beat. This meditative state is lacerated with a loud and piercing synth figure. The contrast between repetition and disruption is what makes this track unique and interesting, a workable tool for the dance floor.
