Next level heaviness: Audio is now an official member of the Ram Records family. And he's entered the creative fray with two of the most brutal, ballistic bangers you'll play all year. 

A decorated sound scientist for well over 10 years, what Audio doesn't know about explosive production dynamics truly isn't worth knowing. His previous outings -- four albums and an anthem so unanimously massive it knocked EDM superstar Avicii off the top spot on Beatport -- speak volumes. Literally... Each and every Audio production stops the very best D&B producers in their tracks, making them rethink their game. Naturally his first full Ram debut is no exception. 

'Heads Up' is a king size tear-out session of Godzilla proportions. Opening with subtle themes of dark cinematic drama, he pitches us into a drop that's so physical and visceral it's outrageous. Sneering and tearing with raw aggression, you could reload this 20 times over and your crowd will lap it up every single time. Just when you thought Audio couldn't possibly raise the bar higher... 

And that bar stays high on 'Stampede'. Referencing the classical sounds that made drum & bass the distinctive genre it's become, a series of icy pad, searing basses and tightly woven percussion build into a hook made of unadulterated savagery and concentrated destruction. Nodding deftly at every muscular sub-genre D&B has spawned -- from tech to neuro to jump-up -- Audio has whittled such a sharp sonic stick the police are considering filing it as a dangerous weapon.

The name Katharsys derives from ‘an extreme change in emotion that results in renewal, restoration and revitalization’. And after one listen to the forthcoming LP sampler which French producers Hugo and Tom have been crafting in sonic solitude, you’ll understand why they chose this namesake. Following the start of their journey together in 2001, the duo began producing their very first drum & bass tracks. Inspired by the likes of Tech Itch, Kemal, Konflict and other heavyweight bass legends from across the darker end of the spectrum, the outfit have followed the same ethos. And that’s to transpose the primal instinct of Catharsis into every record.

Whether it’s Neurofunk or Darkstep, Katharsys have turned their hands to every sub-genre, across a wide variety of labels. Imprints such as Barcode, Obscene, Future Sickness and Guerilla have grown the pair from strength to strength, increasing their notoriety whilst helping to push them throughout the European club scene. And for their next offering, the renowned Othercide Records have given them a platform, an imprint which will release their second LP and further solidify their place as underground tastemakers.

After our anticipation was pushed to breaking point, it's finally here. Pieces of this album have been circulating for a while now, chalking up support from the likes of Radio 1's Friction, DC Breaks, Tantrum Desire, Crissy Criss, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and a whole host of other heavy hitters. And you wouldn't really expect anything less, given this artist's pedigree. He's been in the game since the late nineties, chalking up some hugely successful releases on some of the biggest labels in drum'n'bass. As a DJ, he's a regular fixture at huge shows in his native Slovakia and beyond. And, since signing exclusively to Technique in 2011, his position as one of the scene's top tier producers, able to flex engineering skill and musicianship in equal measure. So strap in. It's L Plus's debut LP and it's a monster.

The title track, “Hideout”, lays out the blueprint. Never quite predictable, the tune takes us on a quirky journey through unexpected chord patterns and structural experimentation, and that's just in the intro. Make no mistake, though, L Plus hasn't compromised on sheer rave-hyping ability either, the huge build-up is definitely warranted by the weight and power of the drop. And that trend continues. You'll probably already be familiar with cuts like “Creature Must Die” and “Avenger”, which strike that perfect balance between individuality and dancefloor energy.

And that's just the start of what the album has to offer. Take the warm nostalgia of “Battleground” for example. There's real depth of emotion in the classic-synth melodies, delivered in a way you won't have heard before. Then there's “Make You Feel”, a twisted and techy journey through rhythm programming, and the half-speed madness of “Get Ugly”. The one constant feature is that all of these tunes, however expressive or resistant to pigeon-holing, are built to make ravers move.

Of course, this wouldn't be a Technique Recordings album without some heavyweight collaborations. The mighty John B passes through on “Original 80's”, to push some synth-pop and electro flavours to the limit. Muffler joins in on the uncategorisable orchestra-meets-filth of “Cinematic”. Drumsound & Bassline Smith add their spin to the melody and griminess collision of “Jetpack”. Plus the rock-solid mic man Coppa graces “Lock to the Greatest” with his presence to add a whole new facet to the sound.

You'd better believe this just scratches the surface. We all know L Plus's productions have layers to uncover, so this album is going to bear repeated listening as well as heavy rotation in raves and across airwaves. When that's true of every single track on an LP, you know we've got something special on our hands. The anticipation was justified. Check it.

The warrior’s body was torn and broken, held together by thin threads of sinew and muscle that strained against any force put upon them, making each movement an exercise in agony. His very form seemed to mock humanity in its contorted state and presented an anatomical parabole by way of its very living existence. Yet for all of this suffering, he continued on unbowed, determined to become what he had been once again. He had attained the pinnacle of human strength and power, unstoppable in combat for his devastating ability. Such ability had brought enemies who had sought to strike him down unseen, to remove his greatest advantage in traditional combat. Their treacherous assault had nearly destroyed the warrior, but through the strength of his will he had remained, driven onwards by a new purpose: revenge.

For this motive he had crafted an array of devices that fed into him as veins to a heart, healing his body day by day, inch by inch, and molecule by molecule. Serums of his own concoction expedited this process, regenerating his tissues at a rate far beyond the human baseline. He had sealed himself into darkness, illuminated only by the iridescent glow of the technologies which enveloped him as a cocoon. Indeed, all about him was built for the sole purpose of his revenancy but for one inclusion. Directly opposite him stood a mirror, oddly organic in its contrast to the web of cables which surrounded it. His eyes locked forwards, the warrior stared ever into the mirror, unphased by the horrific REFLECTION that stared back. For the warrior, such a visage only bolstered his resolve. The REFLECTION’s of those who had wronged him would look far worse in time.

GANCHER & RUIN make a powerful return to EATBRAIN with the release of their REFLECTION EP, featuring two solo tracks and a collaboration with label boss JADE to form a well-honed three track package. REFLECTION merges the sounds of GANCHER & RUIN with those of JADE to maximum effect, as roaring basslines collide move to funk influenced rhythms in a well-orchestrated sonic synthesis. VELOCITY’s rising arpeggio leads straight into a full frontal drum-fueled assault, driven by the punctual punches of its pulverizing kicks and snares. UNLIMITED closes the EP, marked by the ravey saw stabs that dominate its top line alongside a series of vocal shots that add to the track’s colorful atmosphere. With the REFLECTION EP, GANCHER & RUIN once more display their unstoppable sound across three tracks with great effect.
