Living HeART, a compilation celebrating the 25th anniversary of reggae/dancehall label Xterminator Records, is set for release later this month via XTM.Nation. The latest leak from the project features guest vocals from 2014 Artist to Watch Jesse Royal on a tune from St. Thomas, USVI-based vocalist Jahman. Jahman, whose 2012 album Diamonds and Pearls featured production from Xterminator founder Philip "Fattis" Burrell, wrote the tune as a tribute to the late producer.

Fattis' son, Kareem "Remus" Burrell, produced the track, which features Mitchum "Khan" Chin on guitars, Donald "Dannie Bassie" Dennis on bass, Shaun Darson on drums and Kevon "Webbo" Webster, and was recorded by Delroy Pottinger and mixed by famed engineer Steven Stanley.

Sizzla - Daylight (XTM.Nation)

Track number 1 on the Living Heart vol 1 album. Luciano teamed up with producer Phillip "Fatis" Burrell and his Xterminator label, to produce majestic albums like Where There Is Life, which came out on Island Jamaica. It contained such hits as "It's Me Again Jah", "Who Could It Be", as well the title track. They recorded a second album for Chris Blackwell's major label Island Jamaica in 1997 entitled Messenger, whose title track earned him his enduring nickname.

The majority of his recording in the mid-to-late 1990s was for Burrell and the Xterminator label, which by that time included such artists as Sizzla, Mikey General, Shadow Man, Ragnam Poyser as well as recordings from Capleton and Cocoa Tea. Along with the work on the two albums for Island Jamaica, the majority of Luciano hits produced by Burrell were featured on 1999's Sweep Over My Soul.

Jesse Royal is at his most lyrical on his new single, "Silent River." The track, which opens with a sample of Horsemouth's speech from the classic Jamaican movie Rockers, features notes from an all-star cast of Jamaican musicians including drummer Kirk 'Kirkledove' Bennett, keyboardist Llamar 'Riff Raff' Brown, guitarist Mitchum 'Khan' Chin, trombonist Nambo Robinson and sax king Dean Frazer, and background vocals by singer Chevaughn. Produced by Kareem "Remus" Burrell and mixed by Collin "Bulby" York, it's the second single from XTM. Nation's upcoming Living Heart Vol. 2, a follow up to the original Living Heart compilation album released in 2014 in tribute to Burrell's late father, Philip "Fatis" Burrell.

Artist Ikem Smith, who designed the cover artwork for "Silent River," tells the song's story through a series of illustrations bringing Royal's lyrics (We step through the Valley of Death without fear/Lion nuh join squabble with eagle and bear/Real cavalier, rare like trillionaires) to life. Today being Election Day in Jamaica, Jesse is asking his fans to vote on which illustration they would want to animated in a 15 second video.

Fatis Tapes in the Oven' is the first volume in an ongoing series from the extraordinary works of  Philip 'Fatis' Burrell who founded Xterminator Productions. The collection of rare and unreleased tapes is curated by Fatis's son, Kareem 'Remus' Burrell who was working very closely in the studio with his father, close to the time of Philip 'Fatis' Burrell's untimely passing in 2011.

Fatis is most known for his productions with reggae giants: Sizzla, Luciano & Beres Hammond. Kareem has dug through his father's old crates to unveil some rare alternate cuts of classics such as Luciano's 'Give Thanks' from his classic album 'One Way Ticket' and Tanya Stephen's 'Tonight'. Kareem also discovered some treasures from relatively unknown artists such as 'Jah Protect Me' from Gott Yo & Judgement morning from Peter Franks. Of note is 'Distance Away' which was recorded in 1997 during the sessions for one Sizzla's greatest albums, 'Praise ye Jah'.  XTM. Nation presents 'Fatis: Tapes In The Oven' Volume 1 will be available in all digital stores on March 30, 2018.
