... this one dates back to Flagstaff, 90-91-  Jimmy had a duo with Scotty Brownwood called Cold Turkey, they released one tape, and they each had four songs on it.... ill get the cold turkey version up here eventually.....

 Cold Turkey was recorded 5/18/90 at Mudshark Studios in Flagstaff AZ. Jimmy teamed up with an equally talentedand inspired friend and freak, Scotty Brownwood. Scotty had an electric band called Distopia in the pacific northwest before coming to flag where he spent much time in a fire tower and playing music in flag. Jimmy and Scottys voices and guitars weave together in a way that recalls great 70s rock harmonies---1 instrumental,  2 songs Scotty sings, 4 songs Jimmy sings, but they both sing on every song-, and this cassette was bought by everyone i knew in flag, it was in heavy rotation in happy homes, and of course we all wanted to hear them ROCK. We were about to. Jimmy and Scotty teamed up with Tim & Jeff Pomeroy on bass and drums and formed RAIN. Rain was practicing regularly & was almost gig ready and had a show booked at Monsoons opening for the Meat Puppets, who we all loved & listened to endlessly... Jimmy talked to me alot about wanting to leave flag and have some next city under his belt, and i was always quite passionate in responding by telling Jimmy he should go to portland and find billy kennedy and then see what happens. I had done some research and i have great rock n roll instincts. After a couple trips to portland to check it out,( the thanksgiving weekend 1990 hitchiking trip with kenny mclain of the Exbats became the song Heavy Boots) Jimmy, even with this badass band in flag, made the difficult decision to leave the band and the town and move to portland. This was hard for the completely- excited -to- rock Tim, Jeff, & Scotty, and also for Jimmy, who truly valued what he left when the road and wanderlust called him off the snowy and sunny mountain in the desert and towards the sea and the city in the rain and the Laurelthirst scene that would lead him to his home on Freak Mountain, where he didnt wake up early much, but woke up with Early often... ..how their sound would have shaped and what would have come of RAIN is one of the great rock n roll what ifs.... thank you Lysa for the pic of brownwood  & boyer & thx tim pomeroy for digitizing the cassette....I  LOVE YOU FREAKS!!!!!!!!!.....
