Rebirth, a track inspired by the way people say there are going to change. Obviously, some people do at some point and others, well, they don't even try. Rebirth is a process that we all go through in life. Like baby to toddler, from teenagers to young adult, you get the idea. On a deeper level, that leads us to the spiritual journey in one's life. Some people find this path early in life, some later. When you find the right path in life, it doesn't matter whether you're old or young. The origin of the main theme of this prelude is a progression I came up with while working on the Fantasy and the Nocturne in the same key. It couldn't fit in, but I found it very beautiful and had fruitlessly tried to find a composition where it could find a home. 
I admit it took me too long to realize that a new composition can be made from it, and it also took me too long to realize that another theme (the second one in the Prelude) I made at that time fits almost perfectly. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the final result. 
There are almost jazzy (a friend had even said proggy) elements that work unusually well with the dark, almost folkloric ambiance.

"Bergmálsdalur" [Echo Valley], is the latest song from Icelandic post-rock band Laxá. It had been another of these evenings, just sat round their apartment chilling when Bjarne accidentally hit the TV remote and set the channel to static white noise, inspiring the start of the track. Once they hit the studio, it was Bjarne again who came up with the filthy 80s dub reggae bassline, and Ída provided the introductory cello. Slower paced than their recent work, it still carried the hallmarks of their Icelandic post-rock style.
