The Beginning

Recently I have reached out to Takis and asked for an interview with him as he is one of the most influential and inspiring personas in the drum and bass scene for me. I hope You would enjoy this mix. also I am attaching a small exclusive interview he was kind enough to give me.

Inspirations?

First of all...movies. When i'm watching a movie that i like, i'm thinking  the drum n bass soundtrack of the movie.
In general i can find inspiration in everything. From nature to relationships and of course women. When you breaking up is always a big inspiration.

Techniques you use?

I don't have secret techniques or anything, actually my tracks are very simple, Pads, Bass, Breaks. I'm always thinking of the melody first. I create the sounds that i want for example pads or soundscapes. After that i'm choppin the breaks and im keeping the bassline last.
I like to use sample from movies. I love sampling that's why i don't have many soft synths.

Why atmospheric sound versus any other commercially successful subgenres of Drum'n'Bass?

I like to create something that i like and i'm feeling it no matter if i get paid or not.
It's a matter of taste and what do you want from music.

Fortress of solitude and other projects by you back story?

I have many influences from other music genres like Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Ambient and many more. So Fortress Of Solitude is the ambient side of me, Primal Drumz is deep dark and harder version of Cryogenics.

Im making a mini “Fortress Of Solitude” album gonna be out later this year on Audio Theory Records and maybe a Cryogenics EP after that. No events for now!

What is your message, story you try to deliver to your listener?

There are no messages (i think). Only what im feeling when i create the tracks.
If there is message i think from the track’s  title you can understand.
