The laser: birthed from the sound effects of science fiction films and continuously revised through the growing pains of music hardware and the obsessive madmen that use them, the proverbial 'pew pew' has been synonymous with dance music since its inception. A vision of beauty is being communicated from XYV. Wildwood, the first EP from the Midwestern musician, contains three lush works exploring the intersection of electronic aesthetics and indie rock sensibilities. The title track gives a glimpse into the future of postmodern pop with a chorus of synthesized vocals while "Years Tonight" slows things down through its mix of piano balladry and stuttered 808s.
