London record shop and label Phonica Records launches new sub label Phonica AM. Curated by staff member and DJ Luther Vine, the label will provide a home for a new take on 90's inspired ‘proper’ tech house, and music within this ball park. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

To kick start this new label, Luther approached the mysterious duo Voodoos and Taboos to release 'If We Were' EP. So far, the two producers have only released EPs and LPs on their own record label Voodoos And Taboos Records, and made few appearances on compilations. We don't know a lot about them - not even their face - but the music speak for itself. "I was blown away by the music after discovering their production through stocking their first two releases," said Luther. Indeed, it is not until he heard their tunes that he took the decision to start a new Phonica imprint. "With all due respect to some of the music being released at the moment, there seems to be an over saturation with this rehashed 90s Prog House resurgence... And it was very refreshing to hear and be able to release this rather original EP from Voodoos and Taboos." Nuances de Nuit, Lucie's and T. Jacques' label for modern Electronic music dance floor aesthetics, is back with another edition of their eponymic V/A series. The seventh volume include contributions from DJOKO, Mitch Wellings, Occibel and Bogota-based artist Nicolas Duque. Latter delivers, as the track title may suggest already, the most Italo-Disco take of the EP, which goes by the name of Thump Stopper (Italia 93 Mix) and captures the vibe of an early or as the press-text states 'an obscure 94 Italian record.' Thump Stopper has a repetitive inriguing synth hook-line, includes little scratches and even backspins, vocal samples that complement the track's elements and create an overal harmonic vibe that makes the track the perfect match for any set-time to be played out.

Nuances de Nuit Vol. 7 will be released on Nuances De Nuit in September 2021.
