Imagine that you're still living in the 60's, and you're listening to a good track of Jamaican music coming from two speakers just outside an alcohol store in Kingston. The notes from the piano, lightly caressed, are combined with the kalimba rhythm; a bass encompasses these sounds and, among them, a sweet voice singing of life and love, but yet giving you a hint of all the sorrow hidden behind its words. Well, that voice coming from a scratchy 45s could have easily been COURTNEY JOHN's, one of those artists who seem to be coming from a Jamaica now distant in time, a rare talent with a sensational feeling for singing.
Courtney grew up under the wing of Beres Hammond, his uncle and pillar of the upbeat music, but he doesn't seem to be affected by this connection at all. Actually, since he didn't want to be a carbon copy of such a great example, he found his own style and he began to build his own place in the world of music quite early in his life. The singer, born in Annotto Bay, St Mary, in fact, wrote his first piece at age 12, walking then through the doors of music now wide open for him.
Born To Fly is now just a little tribute fom YAGAYAGA to the great voice of this young artist, who despite his age has already recorded for some of the most important Jamaican labels such as: X-Terminator, Taxi and Fat Eyes, and is now ready to take flight, after the excellent feedback he received with his 2007's album, "Unselfish". 12 tracks, mixed by one of the most representative Roman sounds to introduce you and let you enjoy this voice that deserves all our attention and ears.

Immaginate di essere negli anni 60, di ascoltare un buon pezzo di musica jamaicana uscire fuori da due casse poste appena fuori un negozio di alcolici della Kingston di allora. 
I tasti del pianoforte appena sfiorati accomoagnati dal ritmo della kalimba, il basso che abbraccia tutti questi suoni tra i quali spicca una voce dolce che canta la vita, l'amore, ma che tra la sue parole nasconde sofferenza. 
Quella voce proveniente da un 45 giri gracchiante sarebbe potuta tranquillamente essere quella di COURTNEY JOHN. 
Uno di quegli artisti che sembrano provenire da una Jamaica ormai lontana nel tempo, un talento raro ed un feeling sensazionale per il canto. 
Courtney è cresciuto sotto l'ombra dello zio Beres Hammond, un pilastro della musica in levare, ma di questa connessione non sembra minimamente risentirne.
Senza voler risultare una copia carbone di un grande esempio ha trovato il suo stile ed ha cominciando a ritagliarsi il suo spazio nel mondo della musica, arte che ha aperto le sue porte al cantante nato ad Annotto Bay, St Mary già a 12 anni, età in cui scrisse il suo primo pezzo.

Yaga Yaga Sound System Since 2001 From Roma Yaga Yaga was founded in 2001 in Rome by nine people in love with reggae music from several years. With a selfmade Sound System of 10000 W, started to make danzhall in every corner of Rome, but the real yard of YagaYaga was the CSA Intifada, that it was the biggest location in Italy for a danzhall.. Now the biggest club is Zoobar, that YagaYaga discovered and where now plays as a resident sound together with other friends crew!! After a pair of years that we passed to make practice, and to increase our experience we started some int'l collaboration. U-Brown, Half Pint, Lt Stitchie, Sister Nancy, Reggie Stepper, Dennis Al Capone, Anthony Johnson, Jah Mason, Daddy Freddy, Killamanjaro, Ricky Trooper, Saxon, LP International, Sentinel, Jah Sound, Soul Stereo... and others are some of the artists or sounds that we guests in Rome, and others will come soon.... In the summer of 2005 two people left the sound but we continue to spread reggae vibes all over!!!! We play all style of reggae music,from oldies to bashment and now we are 2 Mc and 2 Selecta. In the summer of 2008 we won the "Jam Jam Cup Soundclash",2 soundclash against two of the most rated italian sound system! We played yet in Spain, Germany and in every corner of Italy : Salento, Milano, Udine, Bologna, Perugia, Pescara, Firenze, Napoli, Macerata, Reggio Emilia, Grosseto, Calabria, Sicily and in the Rototom Sunsplash,the biggest reggae festival in Europe.


BIO ITA:

Yaga Yaga Sound nasce nel 2001 grazie all'idea e alla passione di alcuni amici innamorati della musica reggae da diversi anni. Con un sound system vero e proprio da 10000 Watt,iniziano a suonare in ogni angolo di Roma (da ricordare la prima dancehall in quel della Scola Occupata a San Lorenzo,posto che ormai non esiste più da anni) .Con il passare del tempo si pone all'attenzione per il suo stile versatile e mai banale e con selezioni musicali che abbracciano a 360° la musica giamaicana,arriva a suonare e ad organizzare nelle maggiori yard della Capitale come il Big Bang,  l'Intifada e lo Zoobar,posto che YagaYaga ha scoperto e fatto emergere per le dancehall,e che è stato un punto fermo della scena reggae romana per anni.
Nell'estate 2008 viene chiamato da Onelove Hi Pawa a partecipare alla "Jam Jam Cup" (un soundclash composto da due semifinali e una finale) che vince eliminado dapprima Northern Lights e poi Bashfire,due delle maggiori crew nazionali. 
Nel 2013 il sound allarga la sua famiglia con tre nuovi innesti per dare ancora più energia al progetto Yaga Yaga: Elia (selecter), Tommy (mc) e Gonzo ( selecter/sound engineer).
Durante questi 15 anni di militanza ha suonato e collaborato con molti nomi di spicco del reggae business sia italiani come Onelove Hi Pawa,Villada,Gramigna,Cool Runnings,Dancehall Soldiers,Heavy Hammer,Northern Lights,Kissusenti,Skoolboy,I Shence,Kalibandulu,che internazionali quali U-Brown,Half Pint,Lt Stitchie,Sister Nancy,Reggie Stepper,Dennis Al Capone,Anthony Johnson, Capleton, Cocoa Tea, Randy Valentine, Luciano, Jah Mason,Daddy Freddy,Killamanjaro,Ricky Trooper,Saxon,LP International,Sentinel,Jah Sound,Soul Stereo. 
Ha suonato in tutte le maggiori yard italiane : il Salento,la Calabria,la Sicilia,Milano,Udine,Bologna,Perugia,Pescara, Firenze,Macerata e Reggio Emilia,nonchè una serata in Spagna in quel di Barcellona, 2 in Germania, ed una ad Amsterdam senza dimenticare nell'estate del 2009 la presenza al Rototom Sunsplash in compagnia di Lt Stitchie.
Con la voglia di crescere e migliorare sempre,vi rimanda a qualche sua serata in giro per Roma o per l'Italia per conoscerlo bene se già non fosse così!!!!
