Monday Weekly Mix #1 - 1/6/2025 - Off to the Races

For week 2 of the Monday Weekly Mix series, we have a [mostly] liquid journey with some soulful tunes in dedication to our engagement in mid-December. I had originally created this playlist to play after proposing to my now fianceé during our friends' White Elephant party. Unfortunately that night, I did not get the chance, nor want to hog the decks, and it has only been played but once for her at home after the fact. Monday Weekly Mix #2 - 1/13/2025 - A Mix for Ava

Week 3 has arrived! This week, we up the energy a bit! This playlist came about via a combination of a couple practice histories and some other blend ideas I have in my notes that I wanted to test out. Is it my cleanest mix? Probably not, but hey, mistakes get made, and we learn from then and figure out how to fix them and avoid them next time! As always, a solid mix of sub-genres, starting with a little of what the kids are calling "speed bass" and then getting into some neuro, heavy rollers, jungle, and a couple dubs of some old school classic tunes with that dnb flavor!

Monday Weekly Mix #4 - 1/27/2025 - All I Want Vol. 13 Raid Train Twitch Stream

So a couple weeks ago, the good homie Shane Reaction hits me up and lets me know he has found some USBs that he thought he had lost for good and let's get up and play some tunes! Turns out, that drive is pretty much his "main" usb and it's got alll the tunes on it! We ended up jamming for something like 4 hours that night and getting that feeling you do when you hear all those tunes that you may have forgotten about or have a special place in your playlist! Monday Weekly Mix #7 - 2/17/2025 - Timeless Live Mixes Radio Show

Back in October 24, I was invited by the crew at Bassbunny Productions to open for the one like Calyx, which was my first BIG booking. Unfortunately the (attempted) recording that night of the support sets did not go well and the files were unrecoverable. After several months, I have taken and recorded that set and am releasing it for weekly mix number 8! I really wanted this set to span many eras of drum and bass as well as many (typical) the many subgenres. In planning this set my mentality was that of making it a great "unveiling" of sorts and a broader debut locally, and maybe regionally as well! Funny story... I prepared this set on my rx3 at the time and after practicing it, removed songs as it was longer than an hour.  Well, after removing a handful of songs, and then having 4 decks at my disposal that night, the set ended up finishing about 15 minutes early and the last 15 minutes turned into a freestyle to close things out... lesson learned!

Monday Weekly Mix #8 - 2/24/25 - The Calyx Opening Set

After the week 9 feature mix for NCDNB which went up on MixCloud (if you missed it: https://www.mixcloud.com/CarolinaDNBmixes/ncdnb-march-2025-gotta/ ) here is the live recording from the NCDNB takeover of All I Want Twitch raid train series on Sunday Evening! I was still walloped from a most excellent Saturday night thanks to Deli Fresh Music, Evol Intent, and friends bringing the house down, and I think this mix accurately portrays how I was feeling! Let's just say this is a real "sloshy" one with lots of minimal deep, funky bass intertwined with some jungle bits! I was worried I forgot to record this one when I started streaming, and upon listening back, am VERY glad I didn't. You know that feeling when you get done and you're like "ehhh that was crap", then you listen back and realize it was actually quite good? Yeah, one of those... put it in your ears and enjoy it!

Part 2 of this week's weekly mix is all newer tracks from the last month and a half or so, and at that, most of them free downloads that I was running through and mixing for the first time. This argument that "good music isn't easily available" is lazy and silly... with a little digging, there are plenty of gems to be had and new doors to be opened! This is how I end up finding a lot of artists early-on, and then going and purchasing more of their tunes and keeping up with their releases! One of the best parts of doing this is finding new music to share with others who may not have heard it right?

"Monday" Weekly Mix #11 - 4/24/25 - Part 2

Part 1 of this week's weekly mix brings the old school jungle vibes with lots of amens and intricate drum rhythms. The new school is still bringing the old, with many of these tracks coming from the last few years, interspersed with some classics as well as re-envisionings of classics in a much different form. Jungle / drum and bass are such varied outlets with the many forms the genre occupies and this style in particular is a guilty pleasure of mine when I'm just mixing at the house!

Recorded my stream from last night, as is pretty standard, got done thinking most of it was hot ass. If you know me at all, this is pretty typical behavior, cut a mix, play out, "not good enough". Yes, it's a complex, no it's not healthy, and yes, I'm working on being better about it. How do my other DJ and producer friends deal if you also face similar?
