I composed this piece for Chinabot 4th anniversary and performed it at Cafe OTO in London in July 2021. 
This piece was influenced by the recent lockdowns. During the lockdown I gradually felt that the walls of my room were getting thicker and closer to me. Thus I made a wall of overtones that is gradually getting louder and more prominent than the other sounds in the piece. Of course everything was
happening in my mind so other sounds on the electronic part represented what was happening in my mind, either as a conversation or just repetitive thoughts. The live qanun represented me sitting in my room surrounded by these walls trying to fight with these feelings and thoughts in my mind.

قبل از اومدنمون به مشهد با بچه ها آرمان و مهران به این فکر افتادیم که از یک نوازنده ی مهمان برجسته دعوت کنیم و از حضورشون بهره مند بشیم
به پیشنهاد وحید محمودی نازنین که خود از دغدغه مندان هنر مشهد هست موفق به دعوت استاد بزرگوار محسن عسکریان شدیم
من که سالها ارادتمند موسیقی ارزنده خراسان بودم با دیدن و شنیدن استاد عسکریان نوعی از رهایی رو تجربه کردم که در زندگیم بی سابقه بود
دو شبانه روز هدفن توی گوشم بود سیگار روی لبم و مشغول پیاده روی شدم در مشهد و زمان رو با شنیدن استاد ابراهیم شریف زاده و بزرگان خراسان عزیز سپری کردم
بلاخره به روز کنسرت رسیدیم
قطعات ابتدایی رو اجرا کردیم نوبت به دعوت جناب عسکریان رسید
ایشون به صحنه اومد به مرکز صحنه 
و نواخت و نواخت و... 
همنوازی دلنشینی بین جناب عسکریان و آرمان منورصادق شکل گرفت
با این که تمام قد گوش شده بودم اما خواندم به یاد موسیقیدانان بزرگ خراسان 
و مردم نازنین مشهد هم با صدایی رسا به احترام بزرگانشان همراه شدند با ما...

Refighan

This piece, “Have You Ever Let Your Hair Fly Free in the Blowing Wind? II”, was written for and premiered by @lizardensemble in February 2025 at the NDR Konzerthaus in Hannover, Germany.

This piece isn’t meant as a political statement—but I imagined the hair as the narrator of darkness, years of oppression, and the suffering Iranian women have been living through. Each strand of long hair moves like waves in the wind, carrying the weight of violence endured, blood spilled, tears shed, and the countless joys and opportunities stolen from us. It embodies the struggle of Iranian women, whose freedom has been constrained from the early years of their life. And yet, in the movement of hair in the wind, there is a quiet rebellion and resistance. It is both a whisper of freedom and a haunting reminder of all that has been lost.
