@tomarkay delivers the first release of @yakrasound with his Episodio One EP. It includes 3 original tracks and a remix by French producer Ringard . The two first tracks are highly influenced by the 90's House sound of New York with funky vocals on Episodio One while le Vilain has a deeper resonance. Zangief has a slightly different sound signature, bringing heavier groove and a faster BMP. Ringard enhanced this EP with a Dub treatment on Episodio One which adds a trip hop flavor to the track.

This is Nnatn's third fantastic EP of the year following an earlier outing on this label with countryman DJ Beens and the first part of this Grooves series. All his music combines his long-standing love of house, disco and afro sounds across the ages. He has had support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Mr.V and Robert Owens, and is now back with five more essential tracks.The EP opens in heartwarming fashion with a gorgeous vocal house cut. It has booming kicks and crisp claps that bring a timeless feel while a female voice brings the soul. 'Love Me Down' throws it back to the nineties with a classic beat sample. In this version, the bass is slowed down to funky effect and the chords imbue the groove with a Balearic warmth. The superb 'Party Time' has a cosy basement feel with its jazzy chords and rubbery drum work. A tender male vocal adds an all-important hook and 'The One' soars to fresh heights with a crispy Chicago house
groove, lush marimba melodies and another epic diva vocal that melts the heart. 'Troubles' rounds things out with more stylish deep house sounds, grinding bass and emotive vocals, but this time with a more direct beat. Grooves Pt. 2 is another EP of impeccable house music from Nnatn.

@glbdom is back with a second vinyl release as good as its first. This one pulls totters six super sweet racks from various artists who all share a subtly old-school vibe. The house they make comes with lovely retro-future feels and hints of 80s and early 90 magic. Jeff The Fool kicks off with timeless deep house and seductive French spoken words. The irresistible grooves come thick and fast from there with @scruscru & @brselecta dropping in some kinetic 2step grooves, and dusty old and breakbeat sounds from FRR FONK come doused in synths soul. A trio of various jacking, smooth and soulful cuts see out the reverse.

A 12" featuring four different artists from the relatively new label from DJ and producer Anton Bogomolov aka Scruscru (SlothBoogie Jamz/Omena), although it has to be said its individuality and freshness are increasingly upping its profile as each new released drops. Russian duo Street Choice open up this time round, getting the swears in in a matter of seconds (and throughout) but lifting us into orbit with 'Still On Is MF Record', a gloriously sweat soaked collision of house, disco and US garage. Evidently feeling a bit more mellow, Scruscru himself offers up a Flute mix of 'Long & Sleepless Nights', evoking jazzier French house scenesters like Etienne de Crecy or St Germain. On the flip, Juravlove's 'Boys & Girls' ups the tempo again and the mood with it, a cure acid line sneaking in behind more organic instrumentation. The more reflective Nephews' 'Polo Blanco' brings things to a warm, more snuggly close, ultimately leaving us with an Ep that has heaps of variety and quality in equal measures.

Beatune is a French producer born in Lyon and living in Berlin. After being initiated to electronic music in his young years through French house, he had his first encounter with the German underground club scene in 2011 in Hamburg and Berlin. Discovering new artists, labels and clubs, this shaped his musical taste and pushed him to create his own music. After moving to Berlin in 2012, he refined his skills over the years. Mainly influenced by the local electronic music scene, he now produces melodic deep house and techno tracks solo or in collaboration with other artists. Consistently creating and sharing his music over the past years, he released an EP on the Berlin Bass Collective imprint as well as several tracks on the Traum label compilation series "Tour de Traum".

Originaire de Rennes, Tom Arkay, qui a l’époque jouait sous le nom de Fox, est l’un des fondateurs et résident de l’association Arithmetic qui a organisé plus d’une vingtaine d’événements où il a partagé les platines avec du beau monde comme Jus-Ed, Ringard qu’il faut maintenant appeler Lord Ringard, Gunnter, Fulbert ou encore DJ Steaw, le fondateur du label Rutilance. Une bien belle époque où j’ai découvert ses sets, bruts et festifs, construits de manière à fusionner les sous-genres mêlant moderne et old school, puisant dans l'héritage des premiers DJs House.

Fort de plus de 10 ans de culture house, Tom Arkay lance en 2021 le label Yakra Sound avec un premier EP intitulé “Episodio One”, sur lequel on trouve un remix dub enfumé de Ringard et le mastering est fait par DJ Steaw. La suite est annoncée pour bientôt. 2023 sera-t-elle l’année de Tom Arkay ? En tout cas, son mix de ce soir montre qu’il est plus que jamais dans le game. Bonne écoute, et à la prochaine.

Lo-Fi cassette recording from probably late 1993 or 1994 with some uptempo house tunes. Mix was broadcasted by the VPRO radio (Edwin Brienen's late night show). Recorded in one take on a simple Realistic mixer with no eq's. Break in the middle is from flipping the 60 minute cassette :-)
