This is a song from the soundtrack of the radio drama (available on Audio.com) "The Witches of Lublin" a Yiddish magic realism tale written by Elizabeth Schwartz, Ellen Kushner and Yale Strom. The radio drama stars Tovah Feldshuh and is about women klezmer musicians in late 18th century in Poland. Yale Strom - violin, Sprocket - bass, Peter Stan - accordion and Alex Fedoriouk - tsimbl. Words are from Hebrew a Hebrew prayer recited before you go to sleep and music by Yale Strom.

CD - Garden of Yidn. This melody I collected while in Larissa, Greece doing ethnographic research among the Sephardic Jews. This poem was recited to me by a Jewish woman originally from Rhodes. She told me that this was a prayer recited during the seder on Passover in Ladino. Elizabeth Schwartz - vocals, Greg Wall - tenor saxophone and Mark Dresser - bass. Composed by Yale Strom.

CD - Borsht with Bread Brothers. This tune is from the prominent klezmer family Bughici who were one of the most famous klezmer bands in Iasi, Romania before the Holocaust. I met Dumitru Bughici in 1985 and he gave me some sheet music from his Uncle Avram of tunes the family played throughout Bessarabia. CD - Borsht with Bread Brothers. This melody I learned from a Roma cellist who I met while doing ethnographic research in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. The tune originates from Svalyava, Ukraine and was played at Jewish, Roma and Ruthenian weddings by Roma and Jewish musicians.
