Inspired by a city in a constant cycle of expansion and contraction.  Detroit is exciting. Detroit is gritty. Detroit is full of opportunities and challenges. 

This mix is a reflection of that cycle. A dubbed-out, bass heavy intro perfect for Saturday relaxation gives way to dusty club rhythms; eventually, finding their way into a sound the the late night warehouse techno Detroit so masterfully houses. This mix is a ride with me through a Detroit Saturday.

Newly minted label Psychic Relief poses up and flexes shamelessly with its inaugural release Muscles Hug Your Bones, a brawny EP of swirling technoid psychedelia, muscular bass-weight, and unabashed sentimentality by Philadelphia-based rave rascal Furtive.

The plodding, gently propulsive drums and sliding bass of Intrepid Smiles [Golden] could easily have gotten bogged down in the oozing, crepuscular sentimentality of its soaring, romantic synths, but instead this EP wraps with a certain cinematic spark, perfect for both dancing in lockstep and weepy embraces.
