Like so many, we have been horrified and deeply affected by the current and ongoing genocide, crimes against humanity, devastation, and displacement of people in Gaza and beyond. Spurred by the dire situation and acute need to help in as many ways as possible, we called on our support network of talented producers, asking them to contribute a piece of music to this fundraising project - and they definitely came through with the goods.

Following a longer-than-expected hiatus from releasing new music, Skalator Music is thrilled to unveil its 31st release, courtesy of the highly talented producer M:Pathy. For those who have been following the collective's trajectory, M:Pathy's name may ring a bell, having made his debut with them in 2017 with the distinguished single 'Anticipation / Pressure'.

With previous releases on esteemed labels such as Terabyte Recordings, Engage Audio, and Lost Recordings, the 'Frustration' EP marks a significant milestone in M:Pathy's career. This collection of tracks is the product of the artist's perseverance through various creative challenges, and the collective couldn't be prouder to bring it to light.

Comprising four meticulously crafted tracks, including collaborations with J-DOK and Lost Content, the EP showcases M:Pathy's versatility across the 170 BPM spectrum. From the familiar deep roller vibes of 'Greaze' featuring J-Dok to the brooding atmospherics of 'Procure' with Lost Content, each piece exhibits a distinct facet of the artist's skill set.

With its trademark percussive stabs and ominous bassline, 'Frustration' encapsulates M:Pathy's unique sound, while 'Recovery' delivers a mesmerizing fusion of techno and bass music. The EP opens with label newcomer Microcosm who brings us ‘Journey Of A Thousand Miles’ a beautiful driving atmospheric jungle roller, full of warped bass and lush strings and pads.

Another label debutant, fast-rising TRC2, moves things into a darker direction with ‘There Is a Flame’, an ominous techy roller built for the dancefloor and the head with its intricately programmed breaks and distorted bass tones.

Things continue with Codename favourite NonRev delivering ‘As We Are’, where ominous siren-esque tones meet snappy rolling breaks and his trademark lush production. This prolific producer continues to be one to watch.

The EP closes with a typically gorgeous roller from the inimitable Okee, interspersing catchy vocals with fresh strings and gorgeous keys and synth tones, to close this second part of the ‘Distant’ series on a high.
