The song is about a girl that I used to date. Long story short, I drove an hour to see her due to the fact that I was so infatuated with her. I wore rose tinted glasses and only saw the good in her but I slowly realized that I was losing myself and my identity trying to appease her. She was cute but her personality sucked. She was really into K-Pop but that was all that she really saw me as and didn’t really care about my interests and who I was. I was more than that. It turned out that I was just the third wheel behind it all because she ended up going back to the guy that she was seeing so I just felt lead on. In the end, I left without ever kissing her.

The song is about a friend of mine named Brad Weyman that I knew back in high school. I was barely in my freshmen year. Growing up as a kid, I had trouble socializing with people and making friends so I was alone for the better part of my life. I would just stay home and play video games and watch anime all day as a shut in. However he was the first ever person to actually acknowledge me. What I found wholesome is that he wouldn’t treat me any different compared to anyone else even though I have Autism and was in special education. It made me feel normal because for the longest time, I was ashamed and depressed due to my disabilities.  The greatest gift that he has ever given me was introducing me to bands that I still listen to as a 26 year old adult. He introduced me to Angels and Airwaves and got me really into Blink-182 which served as gateways for my love of music. Whenever I would feel down, I would listen to them and music became a friend that was always there for me. None of it would’ve happened if it wasn’t for that encounter with him. Music saved my life but he was the one that really got me into it in the first place so without him, I wouldn’t be alive. I wanted to make this song as a homage to him.

This song is pretty self explanatory; its about depression and suicide. However, I wanted to portray a realistic picture behind it. The song is not about being against suicide but not being for it either. I feel that depression for many people comes and goes and people just simply go through the motions. One day you might feel like you’re on top of the world and then the next you feel like absolute shit. In the end, it all usually comes down to whether or not you want to keep going. I wanted to make a song that didn’t sugar coat anything or beat around the bush. Mental health is all about balance but that goes for everything in life and not just depression.  I wanted to make a song that was tonally and lyrically dark but also not entirely devoid of hope to reflect that balance. The message of the song was loosely inspired by the poem from Charles Bukowski titled “The dead flowers of myself” that really captured the message that I was going for. I wanted to make a song that served as a definitive song that explores the mythos behind my artist name and logo. That is the reason the song is self-titled.
