The debut release from Thanksmate on Soul Express Records, SEX001, is a journey into the deep and groovy side of house music, blending 90s influences with contemporary, sophisticated club sounds. Across the six tracks, the record moves between lush, dreamy melodies and hypnotic, driving rhythms that create an immersive experience both for the dancefloor and for introspective listening. The EP pulls from a wide palette of inspirations: the raw energy of early Chicago house, the emotive textures of Balearic beats, and the gritty funkiness of Italo house. Each track brings its own vibe—some leaning towards warm, soulful grooves, others more minimal and punchy—while staying true to the Thanksmate signature sound: elegant yet playful, with a focus on analog textures and timeless vibes. Our brother, our friend, our family. This is the last recorded dj set from Navid Izadi at our beloved Sunset Campout 2018. Closing out the Beach Stage on Friday evening from a day of frolicking in and around the Feather River. Navid matured and defined his musical prowess in our community over many years and it was an honor to have him perform several times here. The first mix to go up is in honor of a man with an open heart that poured love into his music and all the people he connected with. We will miss you, your laughter, and infectious smile dearly. Your music and charisma will live on forever in all of us!

Well here we go. Another year and another Sunset Campout and again I was honored to play the closing set to wrap up the best party in the world Sunday on the beach. 
I did this one a little different and started with just some of my favorite slower jams and didn't really do much mixing for the first 30 min or so, but I got going after a few tunes and then it was off to the races. 
This one is bitter sweet as we lost our dear friend/brother/musical compatriot, Navid Izadi, one week to the day after this was recorded.

Producer, DJ and Partyfine label boss Yuksek has been a vital force in the electronic music scene for the last two decades, releasing a string of albums, EPs and remixes on boutique independents, major labels and his own, much lauded imprint. //What do you love about Yamba?
Oh, there is a lot I love for it. I love the family spirit that’s behind it, its design, the quality of the food and the drinks and its musical orientation. Musically I am more the timeless side myself and I like it when people the guts to not run chasing every trend.

//What was your idea when your played this set at Yamba. recently?
Obviously there was no dancing allowed, so I played a lounger set that was supposed to simply create the perfect ethereal and floating soundscape for the beautiful day at the beach. I knew that Disco and soulfulness are strong elements of the music choice usually and that’s what I’m coming from so wherever it’s welcome I play a set like this. 

//What’s your ritual before a gig?
If you wanna call it a ritual. I always do the following: whenever I come into a venue, a room, I try to feel it. Sometimes that takes only a few minutes, sometimes more. I am trying to intuitively feel into what this room needs to take off. Sometimes this can mean to reset a room at 10bpm lower from the first records to slowly rise the energy again, sometimes it’s continuing exactly there where it is at this very moment and transforming it later. I am also feeling into the question if the room is ready at all for these types of stories I like to tell and sometimes, not often, the answer is a no. And then I just play a set that’s more on the functional side because in the end it’s my job to make the people dance.
