A table with a name scratched deep,
A window pane thick with dust
Unwoken from an endless sleep,
All moving joints seized with rust,
Here is something to liken it to.

A garden choked with weeds and thorns,
A cobweb hangs across a door,
The pathway is so overgrown,
Since no one has been here before,
Here is something to liken it to.

It’s not about keeping up,
It’s not about giving up,
Time is standing still 
While all around it moves so fast,
People growing far apart,
Here is still trapped in the past.

In perpetual eventide,
A newspaper on the chair,
A faded photo on the side,
Unopened letters on the stair,
