To say 2020 has been a tumultuous year for artists and record labels is an understatement to say the least, however, Toronto Is Broken's YANA Music imprint has just grown from strength to strength, bringing some of the finest in dancefloor drum & bass to the listener. Originally set up in May 2019 as a means to self-release his own work, Toronto Is Broken's label has now grown into a strong family of artists, honing and nurturing newfound talent such as Coastal, Matt Neux, Vypes, as well as providing a home for some more established acts such as Aktive and Richter.

Celebrating this fact and to round off such a challenging year, YANA Music is proud to announce their first in a line of annual compilation albums: "YANA2020"!

Of the 20 tracks on this album, 10 are some of the highlights from this year such as Aktive's peak-time anthem "Sunchaser", Coastal's jaw-dropping debut "Here We Go" and the monstrous Matt Neux remix of Toronto Is Broken's "Reminisce". Alongside these tracks feature 10 brand-new exclusives to the album from label main-stays Matt Neux, Battletek and Vypes, as well as some brand new names for the YANA roster, Living Plastic, Mojay, Corrupted Mind, Volition and Theatrix.

To top it off, the album features the heavily anticipated "Body Dem VIP" from TIB & Nvrsoft as well as jungle-powerhouse Conrad Subs giving the label's first ever release "In Your Soul" the remix treatment. Toronto Is Broken’s YANA Music imprint has reached its first milestone as a label, it’s tenth release. YANA010 comes from Liverpool-based producer LUCA, who bring us two upbeat and soulful dancefloor drum & bass tracks.
“All Night” is a euphoric track, driven forward by a strong male vocal. The whole track is layered with trance-like melodies, and lush atmospheres.
On the flipside, “My Affection” features the vocal talents of Michael Aldag, another Liverpool local. His solemn and deep vocals provide a perfect contrast to LUCA’s uplifting melodies.

Vypes - Brand New [YANA Music] [OTW Premiere]

From the Netherlands, YANA Music is jetting over to LA for the first time with a stunning single by Richter and Gracie Van Brunt.

Shane Armijo, Richter (formally of Consouls) is a name many people will already be familiar with. For years he’s been at the head of US events agency Bassrush organising premiere D&B events across North America as well as displaying his prowess as a versatile producer with releases already on his Bassrush imprint, Viper Recordings, Get Hype and Play Me Records. Gracie Van Brunt is an experienced Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/topliner and vocal producer from Berklee College of Music that has been toplining for various DJs and producers for the past few years. Already she has amassed over 150,000 Spotify streams with her emotional vocals, compelling lyrics and catchy melodies.

As the name suggests, the track starts with dark atmospheres being pushed along by Gracie’s melancholic vocals. The track builds to a crescendo which drops with big, driving synth stabs and pounding drums taking the piece to a place of euphoria. This track is one for the mainstages with its big dancefloor sound. YANA012 drops July 31st 2020 on all major online stores and streaming platforms.

“Reminisce” is the second single from Toronto Is Broken’s forthcoming third album “Clare”, bringing forth a new chapter regarding the sound of Toronto Is Broken. Finally fusing together his two music loves, drum & bass and metal, with such clarity, “Reminisce” sets the benchmark in what to expect from TIB’s new album and music from now on.

Natty Campbell (Chase & Status, Chopstick Dubplate & Dub Pistols) also returns for vocal duties after last year’s collaboration “Set It” (ProgRam), providing a high energy vocal, perfectly complimenting the track’s aggressive low-tuned guitars and driving drums.

As the hype, schedule and promotional campaign for Toronto Is Broken’s forthcoming, genre-nullifying third album begins to ramp up and skyrocket, we’ve been treated to a real humdinger in the form of a new remix from the expressive, aggressive sonic minds of the exciting, upcoming SyRan duo. Taking the form of  the third single on the highly-promising, imminent ‘Clare’ album, the original cut saw YANA Music head-honcho Toronto Is Broken link up with with the emotive, illustrious singer/producer duo Deuce & Charger for a multi-faceted, wholly unique hybrid of Metalcore and Drum & Bass; a high-octane combination that we’re definitely keen to hear more of.

Then, in come SyRan. The gritty Peterborough-based pairing have seen a stratospheric rise as of late, implementing and showcasing a heralded style of impaling, cataclysmic Jungle-influenced 174 that has been tearing off heads left, right and centre. A permanent fixture in the sets of Andy C and many more, SyRan were quickly picked up by Andy’s legendary RAM Records imprint, first for 2019’s ‘Paradigm’ EP and then two widely-supported singles - ‘Telepathy’ and ‘For You’, which both dropped this year to great critical reception. 

All in all, this is a cracking, seminal meeting of three different sets of artistic qualities, but one that still moulds together perfectly, blending SyRan’s vintage-yet-modern Breakbeat aesthetics and droning, longitudinal bassweight movements with Toronto Is Broken and Deuce & Charger’s copiously brilliant original lick.
