We never tire of mentioning that YION is all about collaboration. So fittingly, co-founders Yannek Maunz and Johanson joined forces once again. The result is a dizzying composition carried by swirling melodies and trembling percussion. This song makes for a disorienting and ecstatic experience. Release thirty-three has Manjumasi going down under for a showcase of deliciously groovy lo-fi minimal house music from Australian producer Michaelis. Each of the three originals puts forth a heady mix of restrained beats and basslines, complemented by a bevy of subtle sonic details, playful melodic flourishes and washes of ambient texture. The arrangements evolve gradually and intentionally, leaving plenty of time to get absolutely lost in the groove.

Two remixes of Special Assistance round out the package. The first comes from label co-founder Mark Slee, whose Rusty Transistor Dub takes the track in a more melody-forward direction with a modulated FM synth lead that meanders its way through the mix. Next up is Kooscha, another Australian master of minimal groove, with a remix that takes the track into a darker, late-night territory with a focus on atmospherics and a bit of extra shuffle in the groove.

The 28th Chapter sees Djuma Soundsystem team up with Westerby for our latest story in sound: the cosmic afro tech of ‘Disambigua’.

Now based in Copenhagen, Norwegian artist Djuma Soundsystem was catapulted into the public's consciousness over a decade ago with his club classic 'Les Djinns' on Get Physical Music. His organic, sample-heavy signature sound is the perfect combination with fellow Copenhagen artist Westerby’s rougher, analogue synths and techy edges.

‘Disambigua’, their much-anticipated follow up to smash hit ‘Koma Kobache’ (Get Physical), is a standout cut which is already turning heads on dancefloors across Europe with its dark groove and killer vocal hook.

Rising star Jonathan Kaspar (Objektivity, Pets Recordings) is first up on the Editions, where he takes things deep. Built around the interplay of synth lines in call and response, his rework is a pure bass monster.

Meanwhile, label regular KatrinKa marks her latest release on Chapter 24 with an Edition that places the emphasis on a trademark infectious groove, paired with a spiritual melodic motif; a perfect balance of darkness and light.

The package is rounded out by Aaaron. The in-demand producer has worked with everyone from Defected and Get Physical to (more recently) Connected and Yoshitoshi. He focuses on deep, powerful drums in a version heavy on tension.

With this latest Chapter there can be no doubt: four different flavours of ‘Disambigua’ which together add up to a clear and coherent whole.

Singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Alexander Sjödin proves his virtuosities once more under his well known Sailor & I moniker on his fresh take on electronica, the Lost in this Civilized World EP.

Opener Coming Down is a quintessential piece of dreamy electronica, radiating an ethereal atmosphere largely summoned by the artists recognizable crooning vocals. The soulful melody and evocative synths add a touch of extra sonic magic, rounding off the instrumental.

Black Monday showcases Sjödins piano mastery, as a yearning melodic loop sets the stage. Filled with suspense and tension via gleaming synths, the track leads to an intense and dramatic breakdown that leaves a lasting impression.
Melancholy-driven piano is key on Isolated Tears, a pensive downtempo composition that touches on the artists classical side, bridging it into modern day electronica with playful glitches and subtle percussion.

Kellerkind takes on Coming Down, amping up the dance factor with an energetic, standout bassline that contorts underneath bleeps and chimes, emphasising Sailor & Is croons.

Coming Down gets another remix treatment by Deorbiting, who serve up a spaced out, glitched version of the original with a suspenseful breakdown and energy-inducing sequences.

Freshly hatched and fancifully feathered, DJ and producer Yannek Maunz supplies the world with deep, melodic and synth based melodic house beats he cooks up in his shambolic bedroom studio in Berlin Kreuzberg. From his very first release on, he managed to manifest a signature sound made up of analog synths, organic percussion and a knack for memorable melodies. Over the last two years this sound has been continuously pushing its way through dancing crowds and streaming platforms. Despite a steady stream of releases on established labels like Parquet, 3000°, Bar 25, Stil vor Talent, Dantze and Katermukke, he co-founded his own label YION in 2021. Here, he not only releases music under his own name but also as a part of Feral Garden – an experimental project that combines deep house beats with the general aesthetic of indietronica.

I am Daniel aka SILENTB these are some of my words, feelings, thoughts, and pictures of the randomness around us. The songs below are mostly just waves coming out of the void going nowhere, which I learned to capture over the years in the form of sonic fairytales.

I used to be the guy driving everybody mad with my nonstop talking. I seemed to be able to talk for a day or two with a single breath, mostly overanalyzing and thinking everything about everybody in every way. Over the years I learned to be more of an aimless silent spectator and to let my music talk instead.
