Sama Recordings presents 4 different visions of todayʼs underground dance music and revives certain emotions with a distinct nod towards all things atmospheric and non linear. Laminatʼs “Lade” is a more darker and melodic piece in the tradition of raw Chicago House Music. “Sulphur Dreams” is an uprising ambient dj tool dedicated to the analogue drift. “She Can See You” is a moody electronica piece with delicate voice samples. “The Withdrawal" by Maria Colors label boss YNK feels like an ever-changing techno monster with a special feeling for sonorical details and rapidly changing drum patterns. Grounded and spiraled out, the journey continues.

YNK's second EP for Tenderpark approaches the subject „tenderness“ with a lot of feel for
musicality: On „Dana Limes“ the young man from Frankfurt combines gentle piano melodies
with multi-faceted, powerful rhythms and a field recording the musician has recorded in
Helsinki. „Park Theme“ relies on an even more subtle field recording from a small park in
Vienna, slows down the tempo and delights us with a deep black bass groove. And with the
piano piece „Etude“ YNK not only proves his love for this instrument once more, but also
shows compositional skills which reach way beyond the standards in the electronic music
scene.

Dana Limes

For release number 004 Maria Colors relies on a mixture of new and already established artists on the label. Taron-Trekka return to the imprint with a dark and dubby dancefloor slammer from the borderland of House and Techno. In contrast, Drei Farben House, who has also been featured on Maria Colors before, emphasises the warm and light side of House music with his Soul- and Pop-influenced track „Canvas“. Finally, YNK is a new introduction to the label. With releases on Tenderpark already under his belt, the young artist comes up with a cool and funky electronic Hip-Hop track. Altogether, these three tracks wonderfully illustrate the various aspects of Maria Colors’ sound.

With YNK Tenderpark has signed an exciting newcomer who exposes us to a real firework of drum variations with his live recorded grooves which generate a very warm and varying feeling of liveness. On „Sunday Sermon“ there is a constantly seething feeling of subliminal tension which appears to be about to burst any minute. Together with singer Eddy Pirax, YNK has recorded the wonderfully soulful track „Takin' U Back“ which oozes a lot of classic House flair. And „Twistin'“ almost reminds us of a pitched down Dancemania record with its bone dry consequence. Well, not exactly, of course, but you know what we mean when you hear it.

With YNK's 10" single Polytone adds another musical facet to the label's eclectic approach. Having shown his musical open-mindedness with releases on Tenderpark and Maria Colors, YNK further underlines his reputation as a highly versatile electronic producer with "The Joint": Over a tricky midtempo Funk beat YNK assembles various 70s Soul samples, thus creating a warm athmosphere which is modern and aware of tradition at the same time. On the flip side Lauer takes the original and turns it into a straight and sunny House track full of classic vibes with feelings of euphoria and memories from back in the day rushing through our bodies.

YNK's third EP for Tenderpark sends us straight to Dub House heaven with the lush and chord driven deepness of “Paradigms Lost”. Just as dreamy as it's thrilling, the track perfectly illustrates YNK's highly musical approach to House which he further underlines with “Colorit” on the flip side: This fresh and funky piece of music is overflowing with Philly Soul Rhodes pianos and vocals. So Philly lover no. 1 Drei Farben House obviously just had to contribute a remix in which he carves out the classic harmonies of the original and adds an ultra funky Disco groove. Also, with this release our third artwork series draws to a close.
