Lead track ‘Weltschmerz’ sounds like an instant Berghain classic; dark, massive, trippy, and with an emotional character all too rare within the genre. The kicks are banging, the verbed out percussion is fierce, and it all moves around a haunting melodic breakdown that artfully dances on the right side of ‘progressive.’ It’s a killer track that perfectly sets the tone for the whole record.

‘Damage Control’ is a straightforward flex-a-thon, a housier rhythm that struts along confidently. The technical term is ‘floor-filler.’ ‘Lonesome’ brings the emotion back, with it’s super-tense, unresolved melodies, this is perfect for all your mega-club yearning & gurning needs. ‘Relatives of None’ is the nastiest of the bunch, and probably the most at home on Turbo, built around a screechy synth hook. Finally, ’Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme)’ provides an epic ambient outro, crystallizing the emotional tones of the EP and establishing a sense of artistic vision that ascends well beyond the pedestrian.

We could spend the next three paragraphs banging on about the monumental impact our first release ‘We Do What We Want’ had, but to be totally honest with you, we are tired of the track now and just want to move on to the raft of equally amazing music we have lined up for release on We Are The Brave.

However, in case you were living under a rock this summer, the key facts you should make a note of are as follows: it was the unofficial anthem for ravers from Hideout Festival to Creamfields. Annie Mac went mental for it on Radio 1. We got snapchats from school kids buzzing off the track and tweets from retailers playing it in their shops. It was even heard in KFC! And our soundcloud stream went into virtual meltdown clocking up 315K listens in under three months.

So yeah, not much to live up to… but you know what? We Are The Brave, we do what we want… and we want to get on to release number two! It’s called Friday Night Dancing. It’s by Alan Fitzpatrick. Skream is on the remix. Nuff said!

SA009 sees Stroboscopic Artefacts return to the split vinyl format, with the formidable Pfirter taking to the A-side and the two minds behind Artefacts Mastering, Dadub, taking care of the B-side. As Pfirter's 'Monad IV' proved, his releases on SA are not as you've heard him before. His vision cut to wax is "Universe", a 10 minute odyssey that's both militantly 4/4 and peppered with unpredictability. It's 4/4 that's optimized for those liminal moments in a peak-time set. Dadub's 'Metropolis' is a cityscape rendered in all its complexity. They take dub and scissor into it. It's panoramic in scope and knottily brilliant. From these two tracks, two tools have been skillfully extracted by a new edition to the SA family: Edit Select. Out of Pfirter's 'Universe' he distills a silken serum. And what emerges from the distilled essence of the track is pure iridescence. The B-side 'Metropolis' is pushed deep; the beats drop fathoms below and leagues above the top lines reverberate with hazy memories. It's just the start of Edit Select's story on SA - and what an opening chapter.

SA009 was craftily mastered by Artefacts Mastering, Berlin.
