Bongo Overdose Video Mix 1 [ft Diamond Platinumz, Harmonize, Mbosso, Rayvanny]

Once upon a time back in july 2006.  A friend of mine fritz knew this kid name jack who knew this rapper who lived on flatfbush. they said he was nice. that he could flow on anything.   back then i was in a mission to promote a new rythm . i was tired of the boom bap rendition and felt something had to change. krunk music ended up being that change but at the time i was preaching a new rhythmic gospel to every rapper that i could find. that gospel   was  the  yanvalou rythm  or yanvaloo in haiti. they play this form in west africa as well but have a different name for it. anyhow this rythm is  my personal " keeping it real". It;s a rythm that lives in me. i never had to learn how to play it. i always knew it.    since i was a baby i remember those patterns in my head. so i felt that somehow if i was to promote a rythm that it should be that.  also because this rythm is still unknown to the pop world. like i don't ever remember a hit song being based on this feel. so yeah. anyhow,   most rappers had the time were comfortable with the boom bap head nodding feel.  i would give them a  a beat based on the yanvalou rythm and they would shy away from it. mostly because nobody ever raps on this sort of rythm. and this guy.  i remember he said that his parents were jamaican so that gave me hope. because i always thought jamaicans as one of the most rhythmically aware people in the Caribbean if not in the world. so yeah. this guy jumped on this beat and  freestyled on it like  he grew up with the rythm .  it was just cool to even hear someone flow in english on this rythm.  i kept the recording. thought perhaps one day the yanvalou rythm would enter the realm of hip hop culture and someone can  say.. franzy fils did it first. first beat maker to push the yanvalou rythm into hip hop.:)  or  perhaps use this  rapper's approach as a reference . because this is all it is at the end of the day. some people are born with the reference  and  some people need to hear the reference from someone else before they can apply it. so i hope someone out there finally get an idea of how someone can flow on the yanvalou  rythm.
