Motoring up to Norwich from London, it would be difficult to miss the vast forested wilderness that follows a large section the A11. Planted between the world wars to ensure plentiful timber stock, today it's a managed park attracting picnickers and hikers. But there's another side to this wood that most day trippers would probably be unaware of. For some years, there have been reports of a furry beast roaming the forest and surrounding roads, and soon after the first sightings the Thetford Beast Investigation Society was established. Almost nothing is known of the organisation, which suddenly disbanded after a series of disappearances of its own members.

You must make your own conclusion as to what truly went on during their secret, dead-of-night meetings in the forest.

After a three-year hiatus, Mindwaves Music awakens from hibernation and is rebooting with a brand new compilation called “Pnyø”.
Eleven exclusive and previously unreleased tracks, carefully chosen by the labels in-house artist Matilde Møller aka P(h)onyCat, merging between genres such as Ambient, Electronica, Leftfield, IDM and Glitch.

The selected tunes may be diverse in tempo and timbre, but the underlying feeling is melancholic, and imaginative - poetic and delicate. 
Even if "Pnyø" could be characterized as peculiar in part, instead of opting for the obvious straightforward expression, the release comes in an overall laid back vibe, which was compiled for your listening pleasure at home.

The New Old is a performative practice based on improvisation and chance (& ketamine). The New Old is noise. The New Old is not noise. The album surfaces from a unique and inordinate working process in which sonic material from various traditional classical instruments are shredded, forced into feedback loops, and mixed with recordings of crashing software, futuristic self-built instruments, and tender
manual processing. 

The New Old is the eighth release on Textur, a non-profit label and music collective rooted in Copenhagen, with an ambition to create a platform for exposure, collaboration, and community among artists outside the commercial music scene. 

Nathan L. is a musician, composer, and visual artist who thrives in uncertainty and finds delight in the entropy of noise. Originally trained in classical flute, jazz composition, and arrangement, L. is now involved in various experimental and genre-breaking contexts spanning improvisation, electronics, installation and performance.

Taking influence from the 90s IDM scene that revolved around labels such as Warp, Rephlex and Planet Mu, Cardiff producer Pope John Paul Van Damme creates a visceral collage of techno, breakcore and acid - a sonic menagerie that could make even the most hardened raver feel like they're tripping on their own synapses.

His music has been praised for its abstract and experimental nature, yet, in the midst of the chaos, there's beauty to be found. Listening to his latest album, ‘How Am I Not Myself?’, released on 12” vinyl via Last Riot Records, is like peering into a kaleidoscope on LSD. His beats lurch and stutter, while melodies swirl like dervishes in a sandstorm. With tracks like ‘Say No to Yes’ and ‘An Overture to Illumination’, the Welsh wizard crafts a sound that is simultaneously hypnotic and unsettling, like a rave in a haunted cathedral.

For more than twenty years, Roel Funcken has been a cornerstone in electronic experimentation. Alongside his brother Don, this Dutch sound sculptor melted hip-hop, industrial and soundscapes under monikers like Funckarma and Shadow Huntaz. A prolific solo musician and collaborator as well, Funcken teams up with Cor Bolten to revive the Legiac project with the eight tracks of Banisteriopsis Caapi. Keys appear through a sorrowful haze in "Mimosa Hostilis", this machined mist difussing as distorted strings penetrate before a dawning of icy brightness. Modulated forms and shapes billow in the bubble and trill of "Pyschotria Viridis" before the orbiting interference and introspection of "Epicatechine." Percussion is reduced to a texture, the duo finding structure in droplets of water, the stretch of steel and a litany of field recordings. The partnership dive deep into their chosen sounds, elongating and expanding tones to find harmony in the absence and isol ation that is their focus. Pieces like "Solanaceae" bristle with an understated elegance, like starlight piercing a brooding night sky, while "Banisteriopsis Caapi" finds an eerie solace in its repurposing of voice as an undulating elegy. Legiac achieve a distant intimacy with their listener, a relationship forged through complex compositions, gentle movements and subtle shifts.
