For podcast number seven we turn to the exceptionally talented German DJ that is Mick Wills. Rather than searching for the spotlight, Mick is DJ who cares only about the people dancing in front of him. He isn’t in this game to become a famous superstar headliner, he just wants to play records without a care in the world. And that is exactly what he does at knowing clubs around Europe. As a producer he has a small but perfectly formed discography with releases on International Deejay Gigolo Records, but it are his DJ skills that we focus on here.
 
His two hour mix was recorded live at a Knekelhuis event at Amsterdam’s Studio 80 and starts off with some supple techno and intergalactic atmospheres before churning up his grooves with rough textures, kinked electro beats and tripped out acid jack. Getting deeper in the second half, the mix seamlessly transitions through many scenes and styles, taking listeners up, down and round and round in the process. Strap yourself in, then, and enjoy the ride.

Andrew Morrison, aka The Cyclist, knows no bounds to his production. In search of a term to encompass his varying releases such as “Vibradreams” and “Basslines for Life” on labels like 100% Silk, he has settled on the self-described genre “Tape Throb.” He describes his distinctive style as “an attempt to get to a time in electronic music, where everything sounds warmer, like with the more techno-ey tunes.” The journey for such sounds has marked his rise, with four full length albums under his belt and his latest EP showing no signs of slowing down.

The title track from his upcoming Pressing Matters EP is a genre-bending release. With flexible bass, wavy synths, and energetic breaks, it harkens back to the golden age of breakbeat. A unique sound, it is a nostalgic yet refined excursion into the sounds of DJs past.

Pressing Matters, the EP, is out on September 2nd via Hypercolour.

Permanent Vacation 4 is "dedicated to the more beachy side of the dance floor", and we're premiering Alex Burkat's 'Brooklyn Bridge', one of the standout tracks. The New York-via-Philly producer - who's released on imprints such as Mister Saturday Night and 100% Silk - certainly feels right at home here with this dreamy house offering.
