Disquiet0572 Rythm Kit

Created for the 1st day of Jamuary 2023.

Created in Ableton Live using:

1) The public domain recording Sourire d’Avril (1906) fed through the WIDI Audio to Midi plugin. The MIDI was sequenced with the Numerology Pro plugin. The instrument used is Klevgrand Pipa with distortion from Unfiltered Audio Indent 2.
2) Spoken word fragments from the public domain Librivox recording of the book Dwarf Fruit Trees by Frank Albert Waugh read by Ian Bradford Ngotngotaha Pugh, sequenced with the Numerology Pro plugin with compression from Aberrant DSP ShapeShifter.
3) Punk rock drum loops played way too slow with delay from u-he MFM 2.5 and compression from Aberrant DSP ShapeShifter.

The Assignment: Make a beat with new drum machine sounds provided by other Junto musicians.

I had this idea recorded on the fly on my iphone from a while back and decided to use it for this assignment.  It's 3 drum sounds that always play in the same order, which makes it bleed into the next measure creating 3 variations that take 3 measures to recycle.  the guitar chords take 4 measures, so it takes 12 measures for them to catch up to each other. I believe there was another Junto assignment years ago that played on this idea.  vgmrmojo's weird drum sounds I thought were perfect for the idea because they sort of go along with the sense of randomness the rhythm conveys.

Thanks so much for everybody who took the effort to provide these samples - it's been fun working with them! My approach was to select some of my favourite samples, and prepare by creating a looped version of each. I then transferred them to modules with sample playback capability on my modular system. The looped samples create a slowly moving bed with the non-looped ones triggered at different pitches with a short envelope.

These samples were captured on my Zoom recorder today, using only the things around my house. I tried to incorporate sounds from the things that have been a part of my daily life in isolation; planting seeds, watering plants, closing doors, sanitizing things, making medicinal tinctures from Astragalus and Chaga, cutting my own hair and sewing masks. These drum samples are all sounds from activities I've just mentioned. Some of them have been pitched up or down inside of ableton.
