April 17, 2011--At this moment I'm thinking of making a limited-edition physical objects including these 7 tracks of electro-acoustic music I've made since 2002 to present. Though I like what I've made, I admit that if the album consists of only these tracks it'll be too depressive for my taste. So I'm planning to add some more brighter tracks in order to balance. I'll keep you updated on this project.
(Update, May 9, 2011)I added "March She'll Be in the Forest of American Larch," an electroacoustic piece based on Wilhelm Matthies's improvisation.

Several years ago I asked some people to say "My grand father said (to me)..." and recorded their voice. I had no precise idea how to use them at that time. This time I made a text (a kind of poem), alluding and quoting from what they said, the other field recordings, Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation (but I didn't use the sound of this film), and also Stevie Wonder's Overjoyed (but not from his recording). I read the text on my own. I know my voice and pronunciation are obviously not for this kind of job. Maybe some of you can collaborate with me for another work like this...
I just write down the text here:
The subway didn't get us anywhere.
We slept with all the possibilities and the impossibilities.
Looking up a word only to be found in a dream dictionary of fools.
We were all at sea at a party.
We hated a man singing:"The sandman has come from too far away..."
Even if he is not there, I mean, yeah, he's there.
I'm very grateful that I've never met him.
Don't you remember?
"Michelle, Michelle, get rid of that jellyfish,"
And then followed by these imperatives,
"Michelle, be quiet in the car,"
"Michelle, don't bite your nails,"
"Michelle, don't take too much sugar,"
"Michelle, do ballet in mornings before you wear slippers on, because it's good for your health."
You were once someone's baby girl,
And that's the horrible fact like a wooden stick.
A horrible summer, huh?
You talk a lot about a half-dead man sleeping on a park bench.
You say so was he once someone's baby boy.
"A bomb exploded in the toilet" might have been the joke his grandfather lived by during World War II.
The grandfather's rocking chair still gave him something to do,
But he may be grateful that the bench doesn't.
I know.
You're actually talking not about this man, but about a presentiment we don't want to talk about.


Be There

In 2003 in Kortrijk, Belgium, I met a duo called Lucky Kitchen (Alejandra Salinas and Aeron Bergman) who made lyrical music from field recordings. They were staying there to perform at Happy New Ears Festival. I asked them to help me to make a humble video, which would be titled "we don't tell nuances" based on my field recording of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2001. This is the audio part of the video. They also processed my 'Waterbirds' for this.

The Weather Is Not Too Bad

The track was provided for German choreographers Thomas Plischke &amp; Kattrin Deufert's dance piece,the first version of "InExhaustible (2003)," based on a scene from Ridley Scott film "Hannibal," adapted from Thomas Harris novel of the same name, in which Lecter cuts out part of Klendler's brain. It was the choreographer's idea to make this slow Aria. The dance piece played with a misconception of Antonin Artaud's concept of "theater of cruelty."
