A family of labels that includes Wex, Ahaad, Daybyday, La Luna and Telomere, this operation out of NYC and Berlin has become a highly sought-after factory for refined, genre-splicing dance music – recommended by people like Lyo from NUT Records’ in his interview with us. To celebrate its 10th release, Telomere brings a VA double EP with some producers who are new to the label and some already with a release or two under their belts.

Konerytmi falls under the latter category and comes with a spacious and elastic electro funk groove that recalls the supplest of Detroit-meets-Hague sounds (remember the lighter side of Unit Moebius?), a worthy complement to their recent album on the label.

WWM is happy to welcome one of the purest talents of the scene, directly from Kyiv, Vladimir Gnatenko.

Vladimir built his reputation with some outstanding live shows, and he is one of the most interesting artists of the shining Ukrainian scene

The EP is a perfect example of the diversity of styles he covers, from 4/4 to breakbeat with a very unique blend of spacey trance sound which is a trademark of his productions. 

A side opens up with Storm, an emotional excursion into Vlad’s art. Nostalgic synth lines evolving into a hedonistic dancefloor banger. 

A2 is Roosblom, a kidnapping tune that brings you to a dystopic world when new forms of life are trying to surface. 

On the flip side, we have Toevlug, the most introspective piece of the EP. Melancholic sounds and robotic sequences create a dreamy aura while the sneaky breakbeat held up the tension.  

Skarrel closes the EP with a ruthless 4/4 beat combined with a gloomy atmosphere that finds its climax on the break. That’s pure madness in a big sound system.

Vladimir Gnatenko - Storm EP (WWM010)

From all the premieres that I did on Trommel so far, this is easily the most anticipated one. At least, in Ukraine. Our local living legend and still a very humble person finally got his release on the label of his friend and favorite b2b partner. I’ll try to avoid the cliché of comparing Borys to other great diggers that are releasing rarely (or never) and will let you pick any of your favorite DJs for this place just to understand the scale of this release. In other words, rephrasing Fake Records’ statement about Len Lewis recently – “if you don’t know, who Borys is, you probably not as cool as your friends tell you”.

Since, maybe, 2011, there were many rumors about his productions and tracks that were going into his table only (that probably were taken from it to some sets, we’ll never know that).
