I Don't Want To Fall In Love (YAWNY Remix)

‘90s Music’ pays homage to the decade of pure pop, with Kimbra’s high pitched vocals reiterating how sickly sweet the 1990s could be. M-Phazes’ interpretation of the original begins with an RnB vibe that slowly melts into thumping Miami bass, sprinkled with a handful of samples to send the audience on a vivid trip down memory lane.
  
M-Phazes’ rework is both nostalgic and futuristic. Building on the synth loaded, hyper-coloured original, a progression of smooth drum claps and finger snaps have been added, forming a sound you’d hear in a Harijuku DDR arcade.
 
The remix is one born out of divine chaos, leaving the listener wanting their 90’s wardrobe back and a one-way ticket to Tokyo.

The line between inspiration and copyright infringement for any creative medium is a thin wire that most artists are forced to cross, especially in the information age where the ease of access to information of knowledge, coupled with the catalyst of social media, forces an artist to tip toe through the cathedral of interconnectivity, as one excited misstep could result in the artist being labeled as unoriginal - a fraud for plagiarism. This latest revision of Kanye’s fade resamples what was already sampled by Kanye, which is blended with various royalty free samples. But the royalty free samples were influenced heavily by the style of a multitude of 70s artists. The re-creation of samples allows producer to bypass the conflict of copyright. So what is the verdict of copyright in this situation?
