Yax is a techno DJ from Adelaide, Australia drawing influence from the likes of artists such as DVS1, Jeff Mills, and Setaoc Mass. His style is continuously evolving throughout the years, but he maintains a focus on deep, groovy, hypnotic, and minimal techno, as he takes inspiration from the 90s and early 00s era, while still adding a modern twist to his sets. 

Whilst maintaining a presence in the underground techno scene in Adelaide, Yax also curates a weekly podcast series called Yax Invites, which began in 2021 with the aim of showcasing talent from around the world with an emphasis on extended techno mixes. James Harbrecht is a fast-rising techno DJ and producer from London, UK.  He has been receiving support for his music from some of the biggest names in the scene. He's been into techno for many years now. It allows him to experiment with sound design and incorporate different influences. James finds techno's diverse styles perfect for storytelling, offering more versatility than many other genres. His musical style is described as atmospheric, intriguing, stimulating and always underpinned by groove. With a stacked release schedule and gigs planned in multiple countries, 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for the talented artist.

Here is the freshly recorded mix from our older collection. All the tracks are from the late 90s to the start of the 2000s. We can say that this is the sound that got us hooked on techno, and this is the first mix that honors those artists who showed us what techno can be. To this day, many of these songs still sound much more "original" than releases that are coming out today.

For his mix for Miao Music he kept a steady groove of hypnotic techno at a nice rolling fast pace for the listener. It's a sound that he's been attracted to lately as he's been playing more peak hour and closing sets around Adelaide.
