"When this project began I instantly knew I wanted to involve Pablo. Andrew Lojero connected us and we linked like old friends. Pablo's vault of unreleased and unfinished songs is vast, several tunes were at one time set to be pressed on wax for this project but it wasn’t until the 11th hour, on a visit to Ras_G’s SpaceBase that we decided on “Disappear Without A Trace.” 

I took Pablo over to SpaceBase to meet and build with _G after “Yumshit” was already locked in. _G went through some of The ASP’s latest cuts as we went through some backwoods. Eventually  _G passed the auxiliary cable to Pablo, who humbly pulled out his third generation iPod and started going through some sketches. After he was through, I remembered I had some of his music in my phone. I plugged in and started playing my pablo playlist. When the demo version of “Disappear Without A Trace” came on _G started nodding along. As the track faded out, _G looked over from his green chair, unrolled backwood leaf in hand and in a low baritone said, “seven inch?” 

Pablo and I looked at each other and it was like we had the exact same thought at the exact same moment."

ambiguities of both studio songwriting and raw live performance; a somewhat soothingamalgamation of disproportion, But also weirdly right, evident that despite Edgar and Stewart’s careers sharing striking parallels, they have know each other for…well forever.

The 4-track EP reassembles a long-scattered sketchbook of songwriting confidence that the pair have filled with drawings of cosmic rhythms, experimental sounds and other
analogue obsessions. 

“Our first record was more of us finding out space and creating a new environment of sound to work with. This release was much more about exploring the building of our creation”

“U-N-I’s’” colour and pallor coming as much from the soulful palette of Jamie Liddell’s vocal performance as the dirty turps the pair washed their synthetic brushes in. 

JETS production finesse, awash with a delicate nocturnal mood as analogue drums meet colorful chords against a nightscape of glossy darkness.

"We spent a lot of time on the sounds, which were mostly from digital hardware sources. We also focused on the recording process more than ever, as we mixed the record on
mastering equipment and experimented with bouncing parts onto tape."

The sounds that often many attribute to Jimmy or Travis as solo artists are slowlY transpiring to be the opposite, their respective contrasting styles not only behaving with vibrant influence over one another but in turn establishing an exciting benchmark in
electronic music songwriting.

Label boss Ben Davis has pulled on tights and cape once again to launch his debut LP for Paper "The Life and Times of Flash Atkins" and it's a belter.  The first singe "Levenshulme Orphanage For Boys"  had love from types such as Francois Kervorkian, Peter Kruder and Ivan Smagghe as well as glowing reviews in Mixmag and DJ Mag and the long-player has more of the same.

The tracks cover an array of musical styles from house to disco, chug funk to bass, bangers and afro rhythms to 80s influenced cosmic beats. As well as dynamic production and a keen sense of groove, the whole album is based on a short story of the life of Flash that will be published as a comic at the same time. The track and chapter titles are one and the same to provide a sensory listening experience that tells a tale reflecting the mood of the story as well as blowing up dance floors with its sonic superpowers

Says Flash of his creation. “I wanted to create an album that drew inspiration from my 20 years making music and DJing. You can hear classic disco (‘Saved By The Fall'), post dubstep (‘Forbidden Flesh’), Dirtybird (‘Summer Of Love’), Theo Parrish (‘Drug Empire’), Afro (‘Squatting’), Nu Disco (‘Badger From The North’), 90s US deep house (‘The Wilderness’), ALFOS  (‘Levenshulme Orphanage For Boys’), Todd Terje (‘Acid House Creator’) and Metro Area / Balearica (‘A New Kind of Superhero’)”

There will also be a smartphone game, limited edition Flash Atkins beer called "Hops For Heroes", full colour printed comic and remix album later in the year featuring The Emperor Machine, Steve Cobby, The Revenge, Ralph Myerz, Rune Lindbaek, Sleazy McQueen and B.G. Baarregaard amongst others.

Hugely ambitious and creative in so many ways, this album is already looking like one of the highlights of the year.
