Yecad is a new vinyl focused platform aimed at showcasing more stripped- back sounds from artists across the globe. For its initial foray the imprint welcomes two masters of minimalistic house out of Romania, namely Sepp and Vlad Arapusu, while also bringing Moscow’s Swoy and the UK’s Ted Amber.

Sepp’s ‘Cabot Cove’ leads the way, laid out across six minutes with a bumpy drum groove, gritty bass notes and metallic percussion melodies. Vlad Arapusu follows next with ‘Compostella’, stripping things back to shuffled, glitched out percussion, hypnotic vocal chops and rumbling low-end tones.
‘After’ by Swoy then opens the flip side, diving deep with elongated bass notes and an amalgamation of swirling textural synths atop a crunchy, rhythmic drive. Ted Amber’s ‘Erutrun’ then completes the package, employing a loopy aesthetic as resonant swells, ethereal, billowing pads and swinging drums carry the groove throughout.

Romania’s Dragutesku delivers his ‘Destinat’ EP for Yecad this September, accompanied by a remix from fellow Romanian artist, Barac.
Bucharest, Romania’s Dragutesku has been at the forefront of the microhouse scene on his home turf for some time now, racking up releases on Otomoji, Feeder Sound, DRG LIMITED and more. Here we see him
joining the roster of the fledgling Yecad imprint, following its inaugural release, a VA featuring Sepp, Vlad Arapusu, Swoy and Ted Amber.
‘Criptonim’ opens the EP and perfectly sets the tone with intricately modulating percussion, crisp drums and tripped out horn swells ebbing and flowing amongst funk- infused bass licks and unfurling synth textures. Title- cut ‘Destinat’ follows next and edges into deeper realms courtesy of ethereal atmospherics, twinkling keys and pulsating subs floating atop a shuffled, low-slung rhythm.
On the flip-side Barac delivers a remix of each track. Firstly ‘Criptonim’ which he flips into a driving dynamic groove via a snaking sub bass line and bouncy organic drums while fragments of the original wind within. The second remix, this time of ‘Destinat’, then rounds things out and sees Barac lean towards a darker aesthetic with murky drones, haunting voices and expansive reverberations running alongside acid-tinged bass and synth elements.
